      Tell me your first memory

This may be difficult, since many people don't have many early memories. I'll post mine:

Hmm... I'd say around 1-2, where I was strapped to a machine in a hospital for some reason. It might have even been a dream, but it's my first memory.

      OK, now you!

The earliest one I know was real was me falling into a pool at my aunt's wedding when I was four. I remember sinking to the bottom, looking up and seeing the surface, then jumping up so I could just get my head out of the water and get some air before sinking back down. I did this a good six odd times before getting to the ledge, and getting out. I didn't know this was a real memory until my Mom told the story one day. Apparently a bunch of people saw me, but my Mom told them to just wait and watch. I took to water really well even as a baby, my aunt had once left me in the tub, and I did essentially the same thing.

I have another memory about getting hit in the face with something at my sister's birthday party, but it is fuzzy, and I just as well could have made it up. I have a bunch of early childhood memories that I am sure are dreams or complete fabrications.

My first memory that i can remember is being with my aunti and im helping her pull the lawnmower im pushing the under part and she is helping me push it. But im not sure if its a real memory or if its a false memory from a photo. I hope its a real memory though.

My other memory which i know is 100% real is when i was living on a hotel and just mucking around it and walking around. I have a collection of memories from when i lived there. Lots of them involving cats and lots of cats. The owner had a thing for cats dont ask me why.

I have extremely vivid memories of...

      being breast fed

      having my diaper changed

      being inside my mother's womb
(I don't think anyone will believe me on that last one but oh well)
(and btw that particular memory has changed my stance on abortion)

I can recount all these memories for you in detail, describe what I saw, what I felt, what I thought, etc. But only if you request. Because I don't like writing things people don't care to read.

I'm 44 now, but I still can remember before I could walk. I remember crawling, and liking to go under the couch and stick my head out like I was in a little cave. I remember looking out at my next older brother who was in diapers.

      I don't believe you Nina

      Heh.

My first memory was from about 2 years of age. I was standing outside pretending to be a velociraptor (Yes I was indoctrinated into JP-ism early on ) with some other kids in the neighborhood down in south florida before it turned shitty. I was running around and fell, where I was then stung seven times by a wasp.

I can't stand wasps at all either

      Why would I lie?

But honestly...it doesn't matter if you don't believe me. I believe me.

The furthest back I can remember is at pre-K. I think I was four.

My first memory is that the slides were really tall and long and I went down one.

The much more vivid one was that I got to lead the line one day in class. I showed everyone how to walk crooked, and they all did it with me. I was so happy. ^_^

Have you verified these memories in any way? If not, how can you be sure they are not in fact, confabulations? Without verification I would say the most likely explanations for these are either that you created the memories while meditating and trying to imagine what these things would be like, or you have early childhood memories of imagining what these things would be like and now remember the imaginings as the real thing.

I personally have many early childhood memories that for a time I believed to be real but upon deep reflection realized that they were actually memories of dreams about semi-real things.

edit: read your recounting of your verification and don't take offence but it sounds a bit suspect. You focused on quite common things (baby powder, etc.) and then asked your mother specifically about those things; and of course there was a very good chance she would give a positive answer no matter whether the memories were real or not, baby powder is used by many many (many) mothers.

Probably one my earliest memories was about two or three. I had this white teddy bear and was climbing to the top of the steps and for some reason I thought something bad was going to happen to it, and i got upset. I was weird.

Unfortunately, I can't recall much before that. I didn't even know we lived in New Jersey for my first year until I watched old home videos. I can recall much while I was two-three and after that though. One time, I was playing with this toy gun and was wondering something about it so I asked my mother, but she was in the shower and she said something like "i dunno". Another time, I recall her asking me to take a video out of the VCR and I kept pressing the wrong button and I was like, "this isn't working!!". I also remember playing with a toy car my great-aunt bought for me, and how I broke it once and my dad fixed it by putting a brown screw in one of the tires.

I also get particular memories when I hear songs of the era that my mother used to listen to, mainly all those eurodance songs that were popular in the early 90s.

So yeah, if you can't tell already, I remember quite a bit about my younger years.

Mine is being in my second home, in Kentucky, when I was 1. Nothing too specific, just me being there with my sister in the house.

I remember several places when I was 3 or 4 years old. My grandmas house we had a farm there I was afraid of the pigs there cause they were so big I thought they were boars. I had a pet goat named Nochka (Nighty) she was black like the darkest night.

There were mountains there with helicopters on them and lots of fruit trees. My favorite toys were a bronze spider statue, some kind of a mood ring, and a "magic box" with an old gas mask.

I remember my parents house for some reason it reminds me of the color blue, it's like I look at everything through blue glasses. My dad got stung by a scorpion there and we put it in an oil jar.

My dad let me play with some old electric parts there. Dad made a little radio for me which some kids wanted to trade me for a remote controlled car, but I refused.

My worst dream ever I saw in that house when I was sick. I heard my dad call my name louder and softer louder and softer and I was flying and falling flying and falling in a white void and everything is spinning. It was like a bad trip.

My other grandparents apartment was on the 4th floor. I was scarred there because my parents told me of the earthquakes that happened there. I had a black little car with pedals that I rode on there. Grandpa let me play with his hunting knife I even slept with it. My dad always took it away from me when he saw me playing with it.

Another bad dream I had here when I fell asleep near a carpet on the wall I saw snakes coming out of the decoration spots on the carpet. I was scarred of that carpet.

I remember my kindergarten. I remember we were put to sleep there in little beds and I always tried not to sleep. We were fed there by a disgusting stew.
I remember a beautiful drawing on the wall there, it was a field with a tree on a dark day with thunderstorms and someone is running.

We had to shower there the caretakers washed us I hated that. We also had a pool there and it was filled with snow during the winter.

I was happy when I was a kid.

I don't remember being in the hospital when I had serious burns all over my body from a boiling tea pot. But I was told grandpa gave me his blood and thanks to him I survived. I do have a scar from the huge needle they plugged into me.
