Sad news on another forum....

Another forum I go to rec'd news about one of their members passing away. I don't participate that often in the threads and didn't know the member, but I was reading people's posts and everyone's shock and sadness made me feel ill. It made me want to rush right over here and tell you guys how much I love you! Even the members I don't know or talk to a lot. And although I've made a decision to frequent DV less, I still care about this place and just wanted you guys to know that. Ok, surge of emotions slowly dying down. Just needed to get that out. Thanks.

Something like a couple of people have a list where we've volunteered certain contact info, and if someone hasn't seen you around in a while or is worried, that volunteered contact info can be given out? aw Aww, I wuv you too! Could be the same forum I visit, as a member there has just passed away. I never knew her, but I saw her posts. She was quite young, and it's truly a shame. Some people underestimate the kind of friendships one can establish over the internet. They might not be as powerful as "real life" friendships, but they're still friendships, and I bet it still hurts for those who knew this member well enough.

But I'm sorry to hear that. And of course the friendships here are real. Especially when you get to know people beyond the forum through phone, email, other sites, etc. That's why when I saw the thread in the other one, I immediately felt so disturbed. I thought about what it would be like if that happened here and I couldn't imagine it. And I could just feel their frustration. They're probably sitting at their computers, and it's not like you shared friends that you can run to or go to a funeral or anything. You just sit there going, "uhhhh......ok. Now what??" Ugh. I feel sick again just thinking about it.
