      Dream Views Webcomic Redux

      Posted for Marvo:

So we made a metaforum thread, talked a bit back and forth, and came to the conclusion of making a more official comic, where basically anybody can post, as long as your comic is good. The point in this thread/project is to make a more dedicated comic, that will perhaps be updated daily, perhaps just each second day.

Right now, anybody is allowed to post comics if they want to, though we are trying to set a standard, and at some point we'll have to make a "staff" of comic writers, and only they are allowed to post comics. People who still have good ideas or whatever can of course still show them, and if we find it fit, we'll make a comic based off that.

See this here thread for more information on the subject.

As of now, this is the official Project thread for the DV Webcomic. Just to lay down some (very) basic guidelines: Try to be as civil as possible, throw in a few lucid dreaming-based comics along with the community-targeted comics every now and then, and above all . . . HAVE FUN! ~ MoS

P.S.: Great thanks to Daniel Danciu for sparking this idea and helping bring a new project to life on DV!

I agree. Thank you Daniel for starting the initial thread in the Lounge. It had so much potential though and we didn't want that thread to continue getting high amounts of fecal dropped on it. Therefore I thought it'd be best to do something official. Nao...let's get to work guys!!! I also think that a place where the comics go should be a different place than where text goes. Like Dv pictures and Dv pictures discussion, it just clouds the thread with ramblings...not to mention annoying quoting of comics

Your failure is imminent, but I really don't care. Have fun while it lasts, beauracrats. You're ruining an amazing art form. 8D

      Um, no.

There should be a thread where "unofficial" cartoonists can post comics if they want to. If there are ones there that most people tend to like, they can be moved to a "Favorites" thread or something.

Where are the official comics going to go? Does "project thread" translate into brainstorming/responses thread mixed in with the comics thread as well? If so...won't the comics become cluttered in the mess?

I think for now this should be both discussion and artwork posting. Though if you like, feel free to make a separate discussion thread. We'll see how it goes, and if it's needed and warranted, I'll set up a subforum for this. I don't want to go to all the trouble only to have it all fall apart because it got over-planned, though.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,

That was really funny Cold_Blooded, and you made something proper with the generator, but I would just like to remind people, that we'd rather see no stripgenerator based comics.

Ah, I get your comic now. Lmao.

I guess I'll fuck around with something else. Paint, perhaps, hahaha.

They lack...hmm...what are the words. Ingenious creativity. Plus you can't show facial expressions with them. I showed facial expressions with mine in your thread because I ran it through Paint! and edited it before loading it onto DV.

Then there's nothing wrong with them. Just recommend editing them. Adding another potential rule to your already-growing bureaucratic system is just going to stifle more comic production. You're just making this whole project more exclusive to the average member.

Theres a decent one for you guys.

I'm adding attributes to all my characters even if they're not actually important (or named) now =D

As for the ban of the strip generator, I didn't mean to include the ones that have been edited to give personality. Or perhaps even ones that are well done to show personality. I explained myself in the other thread that static characters most often make for a boring comic. ^note the above... Half the comic relies on facial expressions or even just the movement of eyes.

Personally I really don't give a flying sex about if we use strip generators or not. As long as some emotion is added during paint, I don't see what the big deal is really. And I must say arby...the strip generator does look more appealing than run of the mill stick figures. Nice comic btw

Yeah, those stick figures are much less visually appealing than the strip generator. Sure you have facial expressions, but that doesn't mean shit when you have the same looking people for every box. Black hair and an oval on the chest doesn't count as variety, LOL.

And I know Jeff, I never said it was you who declined the stripgen usage.

      Hehehehe...

Yeah.... I might try a strip generated one with facial expressions for my next one, see how it turns out ;P

Again, I in no way meant to exclude stuff like that, just to make it clear =)
