Moderators and Priviledge abuse!

please keep in mind, though, that the default registration disclaimer on phpBB forums states that offensive material can be censored, and that's a good policy...if it wasn't a good policy, there'd be a public outcry in regards to the tens of thousands of phpBB forums stating that. everyone is always welcome to express their opinions here, but there's a difference between incessantly attacking someone and stating one's opinion...ultimately we have to strive to keep the majority of people happy here. regardless, to my knowledge, that's never really been much of a problem.

anyway, hopefully we can clear this up soon without any more negativity!

Hey, just coming in to say "keep it friendly." Insanejester - I would appreciate it if you didn't tell me that I am censoring things, I'm just trying to make sure no one gets offended by this thread. Also, this is an example of a possible "locked thread." It had a point at one point, but now you guys are just getting at eachother. So just keep it friendly and civilized.

Attention, or bi-polar-ness. I've observed all three pages and IJ's changed attitudes a multitude of times

To clear up about censorship: Imagine you're renting a car. You sign an agreement saying you're not going to drive faster than 100kph, and not further than 50km outside the given city. You're told that if you disobey the rules you're going to be heavily fined. You take the car out, and then after the fact, begin driving 120kph, and take it 75km outside the city. You get pulled over by a cop who gives you a ticket, saying you've gotta take the car back immediately so they can deal with you appropriately. You take the car back and begin complaining about the rules, saying they're not fair because they infringe upon your freedom of personal choice to drive faster than the given limit.
Of course you can do it if you want, but don't bitch about it when you get penalized for it.

What doesn't make sense about this? Anyone?

Hey,

I've gotten a report and there were a couple moderators involved, and from what I gather, they were well within their right to edit the post. In fact it sounds like just about ANYONE would have edited the post/deleted it. Regardless, I've clarified the moderator and dream guide responsibilities in regards to post editing, just to hopefully prevent future problems (but again, they were right this time).

insanejester, while I appreciate free speech as much as the next guy, surely you can see why your post was edited...I mean come on, we've got lots of kids on this forum. Please keep that in mind next time.

If this topic is one of the most popular threads, and considering almost all of the posters here are DG's and Mods, then maybe everyone needs to relax and smile once in a while. Sometimes only an issue can be viewed unbiased from the outside!

I'd just like to point out that the mud being flung around here is localised to only some members
The majority of us feel that the moderators and administrators of this forum are completely fair and need aplause for all they do.
I mention this because of the misunderstanding of the scope of the last problem we had (when we all ran off to ld4all on holiday)

Free speech is one thing and I am against censorship as well. However, I'm also smart enough to know that there is a time and place for everything. Free speech does not mean running around saying whatever hurtful things you please and posting inappropriate links on a forum where children frequent. You need to understand the concept of tact and general manners. What you did (and continue to do) is unacceptable.

Admittedly, I only know part of the story that sparked this rampage, but I believe I know enough to make a fair judgment to lock this thread, lest the mud-slinging inflate any further.

Also, on a personal level, if you are truly bipolar I suggest you seek medical attention now while you are still young. I say this with no sarcasm or ill meaning, I promise you. I am on medication myself, and if you wish to know more details feel free to PM me. It’s a terrible thing when the rogue chemicals in one’s brain turns them into a monster that they don’t even recognize… Don’t let it get that far.
