      Terrorist attack in London

Oh god, this is horrible, dammit, I know people in London, I hope they're okay.

      http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4659093.stm

They only have death and injury toll from one of the smallest blasts so far, 2 dead, about 90 injured, many criticly. The blast on the bus, no one would have survived that, apparently it was ripped apart.

[size=18]I've made this sticky. If anyone is in or around London, please check in as soon as possible here or here.

yeh im in london. I was meant to pop into school today to give back books, but all trains are suspended. Some news stations are saying that there are suspected 20 dead, but 2 confirmed. One man said he saw bodies lying on the side of the train track as he left the tube.

Londoners told not to travel anywhere, stay where they are.

The tube will be out of action for quite a while, there are hundreds trapped there, the way they planted the bombs means that they can save the ones to the lest and right, but those trapped in the blast at the middle are probably caved in and might die of lack of air or somthing Or if they were really smart, they'd of used a chamicl bomb on those ones, so even if they can be recued, they'd die anyway.

Shit, my sisters hospital is sending her to London to help out. But at least my dad is okay he's just hiding in a McDonalds.

Oh well, it's not like we're not used to terrorist attacks here.

This is absolutely horrible. Apparently no place if completely safe against terrorism. Hopefully other countries will react and help to bring an end to these barbaric and cowardly practices.

I sent up a prayer for everyone there. I wish there was more I could do. It's in Her hands now.

Don't these people realise there is already enough misery and suffering in the world This isn't going to get anybody anywhere..

What else is there to say..we can but pray for the victims and their family's and friends. And lets hope this won't invoke more hatred

Fear is now knocking at our front door......

Even though 'normal' life will continue today and everyone will not be broken from their routine there is still a feeling of distaste in my mouth that cannot be washed out, its hard to be sincere from the heart when you don’t realize the reality of the picture.

I'm really worried what kind of effect this is going to create.....

Lets hope the people inside this mess had a quick departure and didnt suffer alot of pain, for the friends and family of the people who have lost or will lose their lifes today, they will be in my thoughts. I dont prey, but if there is a day to prey today is the day to start.

How can somthing like this happen? The question in mind is "WHY"?

I just watched the news confrence and BBC have updated site with casulty numbers: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4661059.stm

This is just terrible. Scary thing is, I was going to travel on the central line to visit my school this morning. Good job I'm too lazy to leave my house on time.

We read the news from the safety of our computer and television sets, we read articles informing us 'how many people have died', we react to this situation by counting how many people die in the event........1,2,3,4,5.......45, 100, 200, 300....... This inform's us how 'devastating' the event is...

A statistic, a number, one death is tragic..... beyond that its just a number.

Let me just say that I'm thouroughly impressed by the way those involved (the victims) conducted themselves during this heinous act of terrorism. I've already read a number of reports on how citizens (even injured ones) helping others affected by the blasts. Blood banks are already filling up with donaters and the general consensus among rescue workers has been that those affected did not panic during the ordeal; therefore lessening the potential for greater casulties.

I also have to commend the British govt. for its handling of the media. They were swift in keeping reporters and (more importantly) news cameras away from the scenes.

The media (wrapped up in its ratings and sensationalism) tries so hard to put shocking news on our televisions that it overlooks the fact that such actions only strengthens the cause of the terrorist. The terrorist want the media to absorb as much of the carnage as possible, so that it will make its way into our living rooms and hopefully instill some level of fear.

It brings it home a liitle more for me to think that just yeasterday i was happily wondering round london with my friend, enjoying the sites, watching the people just trying to get on with their lives.
It was such a nice day with lots of people celebrating the olympic decision and just having fun, Or talkin, making deals, playing catch in the park....
Do the people who do this really understand the implications? or are they just blinded by thier own propaganda and objectives?

I heard about it due to Seeker's notice on the front page.

Ya, can't believe it happened this morning. I'm bloody impressed how fast news travels.

I read that 30 died, 700 injured. That's a lot of injured people, and London isn't that big, is it?

I wouldn't know what it is like to be in the middle of all this.

      London's huge!

I was due to go to London on the 7th for a hospital appointment to St Guy's Hospital, near London Bridge, on the trains. Turned on the TV as I was preparing to go.

I didn't go, and besides, all the hospitals near the area (including St. Guy's) were on Emergency plan and were not taking appointments, and all public transport in and out of London was ceased.

For the benefit of those reading this, the death toll is now "over 50" and "up to 70", and the three tube blasts all went off within 50 seconds of each other, meaning it was most certainly a planned and synchronised terrorist attack.
