I love reading, but hate books...

I think my post is self explanatory. Reading is enjoyable and I love it, but books are the absolute bane of my existance. Books should be burned. (I don't mean the content obviously)

Books take all the fun out of reading, for one you have to keep them open while you read, meaning you are never seeing the text on a flat surface. Second, its impossible to read in the dark, much less in the car... or *gasp* in the car at night. I've had to do my homework in the car at night before, not fun. you end up reading a few words, then you wait for the next street light to pass so you can read a few more.

Also books get old real fast if you even think about using them. first come the grease stains then the minor tears then bending covers...

Not only that, but its absolutely impossible to get comfortable while you read, either you strain your neck looking down for two hours or you are laying on your stomach, elbows on the floor arching your back. It sucks. Books suck.

Books are too much of a hassle. period.

      Fuck Kindle. [1] [2] [3]

      Also,

Books take all the fun out of reading, for one you have to keep them open while you read,

And that's just way too much effort!

meaning you are never seeing the text on a flat surface.
Aww! Poor metalfracing! Life is just too hard isn't it?

Second, its impossible to read in the dark, much less in the car... or *gasp* in the car at night. I've had to do my homework in the car at night before, not fun. you end up reading a few words, then you wait for the next street light to pass so you can read a few more.

      Get a fucking lamp.

Also books get old real fast if you even think about using them. first come the grease stains then the minor tears then bending covers...
People get old real fast if you even think about giving birth to them. First come the puke stains, then the tears, and when they get old the bending... nevermind.

Not to mention they need oxygen, then food. Don't get me started on the viruses and bacteria that we need medicine for. Too much hassle.

Not only that, but its absolutely impossible to get comfortable while you read, either you strain your neck bending down or you are laying on your stomach, elbows on the floor arching your back.

If it's this hard for you to get comfortable, you're never going to find a willing sex partner.

kindle is a waste, imo... Its 200$ and you still have to pay for the ebooks. Not only that but it washes out really bad

It would have been different if I was trying to say that reading in general was pointless, then I would deserve a beatdown, but I didn't. so chill

I love food, but I hate eating.

First of all you have to, and I shit you not, pick it up! After that, you've got to shove it inside your mouth. Get this, you've got to move your jaw up and down nudging the food around with your tongue so that your teeth with crush it into smaller bits. Gross. The final stage of the process involves contracting the muscles lining the inside of your throat in a systematic fashion, finally shoving the food down into your stomach. Do you know how dangerous that is? Like, do you know how many people have died swallowing the wrong things? A lot, that's how many. Clearly, eating is more dangerous than all terrorists and premarital sex combined. For the sake of the children, I would like to see legislation put in place against eating immediately!

And don't even get me started on what happens when the food has to come back out.
Surrender your flesh. We demand it.

I don't see a problem with not liking physical books. It's no different than preferring real books to e-books

I too .... well, DISLIKE books. I don't dislike them enough to actually hate them though lol How can you even TRY to read in a moving vehicle?!
I just dislike books when I can't get comfortable or when I'm trying to transcribe them. Audio books rule for travel.

But I like books better than reading on line. My eyes are better than perfect but I've always read by running a finger under the text (I don't do it the entire time I'm reading though). It's hard to do that on a monitor lol

And food?! Eating does suck lol. First you have to go shopping, then you have to prepare it and stop what you would rather be doing to actualy consume it... and THEN you have to clean it up! BAH, I say!
And sadly, that IS my true view of the matter lol. I love food but I hate everything that comes with it.

I love food and I love preparing food... even cleaning up doesn't bother me. It's a wonderful little thing called self-satisfaction.

I can read in the car; I can read laying on my back, front, or in a chair. Personally I think if comfort is your guys' major concern then you must not truly love reading.

I'd rather read a book than a screen. Screens shorten my attention span too much to read more than a few pages at a time.

Not to mention you have to decide what to eat before you can eat it.

I've been having a pretty good experience with my 10" netbook. Adjust the brightness to the lowest comfortable level to reduce eyestrain, and read landscape in FBReader (pretty much any ebook can be converted to MOBI and made compatible). The ergonomics aren't always ideal, but in bed it's more comfortable than a paper book, propped on my chest/belly on a pillow and one of those pillow-bottom laptop trays (I can even balance it and just lift a finger to turn the page). I can also roll on my side and just set the laptop tray on the bed, with the netbook propped up in landscape (though this inevitably leads to nodding off).

I wouldn't say it's zero eyestrain, but find the right background/text color contrast and be aware of your brightness, and it's less eyestrain than a paperback in most lamplight.

I love traditional books, it's great to have a wall of old books on your shelves and they start show the marks of time. Yellowish pages, earmarkings, underlinings, torn covers. I couldn't stand the idea of fully electronical reading i.e netbooks and audiobooks.

Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

I DO completely agree with what Unelias said though. I LOVE having a large library. Ever since I was a little kid I've dreamed of being in a library with books all the way up to the tall ceiling and you needed one of those rolling/hanging ladders to get to them
I would LOVE to have a library like that in real life.
