Tell me about you and caffeine

We've had a similar thread before, but it was about energy drinks and everybody jumped on the "it's overpriced, over sweetened, crystal meth in a can" bandwagon. This is just about you and caffeine in general. Every board I go onto has a caffeine thread of some sort.

So, how do you get your fix of mankind's favorite stimulant? Coffee, tea, soda, gum, intravenous injection, it doesn't matter. What's your favorite caffeinated drink? How often do you get your fix? Or do you use caffeine at all?

Myself, I gotta have my daily fix or it sets off some terrible migraines. It's the only drug that I consider myself addicted to, but society doesn't seem to care about caffeine addicts: it tries to make more of them.

I drink the cheapest drip coffee I can in the morning. Usually it's Maxwell House or an off brand. I used to drink the really shitty instant stuff, but my brother splurged and got a real coffee maker, so I brew my own. I drink it straight or with a packet of Truvia (a stevia-based sweetner) if the can is getting really old.

If I'm really tired in the day (which is kinda rare), I usually drink a bottle of green tea or a Coke. I'm trying to wean myself off of Coke since all it really does for me is make me put on weight.

I drink two cups of black coffee in the morning, and sometimes one or two in the afternoon. Some days I also drink a Pepsi max, and I don't say no thanks to a red bull if it's around.

Not much of a caffeine junkie. I don't do coffee, mainly because A) it tastes like ass (and I wonder if those who enjoy it have damaged taste buds or something), and B) I don't want to develop a debilitating dependency on it to where I simply can’t stay awake without it. I'm fine toughing it out with my sleep-deprivation the way God - or whomever else you may or may not believe in - intended it: power of will. No caffeine needed, baby.

However, at least I’m not as bad as Mormons, who refuse to drink even soda for fear of caffeine addiction. It's kind of funny...once I had a couple Mormon friends over for pizza and soda, and as one was gulping down a glass of soda, the other asks: "This is caffeine-free soda, right?"

      "Nope."

*Mormon drinking the soda begins to choke and sputter*

I voted for one or so monthly. I rarely have energy drinks just because of the mad amounts of sugar, but I'll have a cup of coffee or caffeinated tea every now and then. Most of the tea I drink is decaffeinated though, and I don't drink much soda as it is anyway, I'm a water person.

Most days I do 3-5 cups of good, locally roasted coffee, black. If I'm getting a late start, I might just do a shot of espresso, and if I'm staying up late I might have an energy drink (I like the orange Monster).

If I've lost all good sense, someone might talk me into Jaeger Bombs, but I'm liable to wake up in strange places.

I drink quite a bit of caffeine throughout the day. I usually have 5-6 Mt. Dews a day, but if I am at a LAN or something, I'll drink them like water....
I wouldn't say I'm addicted though. I only really drink Soda when it's around, and that isn't often. Then again, that's usually because it's gone the day I buy it

I would like to avoid it entirely, but it never works out that way. Typically 2-3 times per week I will use caffeine to help me stay awake while studying or, less often, to pick me up the morning after a "long night." When I do use caffeine, I stick with caffeine pills: super cheap, effective, and free of all the sugar and extraneous vitamins. I've always been unusually sensitive to the effects of caffeine, so I can usually get by on taking only half of my 100mg pills, but occasionally I'll take the whole 100mg.

In short, while I would prefer not to use it at all, I'm at least glad that I have my use restricted to a "need" basis rather than a routine basis.

Used to drink 2 cokes a day, but I've gotten down to just one(on average).
Incidentally, I decided to stop drinking them altogether two days ago to see how I fared.

I still haven't drank one but I felt really restless yesterday and really lethargic today... We'll see what happens.

I have one of those stove top espresso makers. I used to have 6-10 lattes a day. Then I found out that caffiene raises cortisol levels and quit. I still have a latte a month or so because they are oh so good. Frothed whole milk, esspresso and turbinando sugar lightly sprinkled on top. mm mmm good.

I don't drink pop or anything, but I do enjoy iced tea which I assume has caffeine in it. Also, I looooove iced cappuccinos from Tim Hortons. Sooooo delicious. I don't particularly care whether or not I drink caffeine, I more so just look for whether or not I love how it tastes. Also, coffee is wonderful when I have a huge project to do that I've left to the last moment, I've spent many a night up until 4am or so when I had to be up for school with my essay ready for 6am. Good times....

I don't need it at all. I have no trouble with staying awake all of one night, if it's important. Though 48 hours without sleep is near my limit. And caffeine makes me go temporarily blind, literally.

I have at least one Mountain Dew a day. I don't really drink any other soda (unless it's in place of that Mountain Dew), but on weekends sometimes I'll have one in the afternoon, and another in the day. I don't buy soda for home, either. At home, it's usually iced tea or juices.

When I was working for a coffee shop, I had my two lattes/mochas each day. When I worked in an office and looked for things to fill my time aside from working, I'd drink easily 4-8 cups every day. It was my water and I just love hot drinks in general.

Now that I'm not working and am just hanging out at home, if I want coffee, I have to make it. While I know it's a lazy excuse, it's true. I love tea as well and drink about 2-3 cups every day or every other day, but it's not always caffeinated. I love mint and chamomile tea, but I have some delicious black, green, and oolong teas as well. So my current caffeine intake is sporadic, but I love coffee and tea in general. I have a soda once a week or so, depending on my mood.

I'm not addicted to caffeine. I just love caffeinated beverages.

lol Grunkie! I understand completely. I don't really like the taste of coffee but I love its smell.

I usually buy at least one 44 oz fountain Coke a day (I usually only drink half of it before the ice melts and makes it flat). The rest of the day I nurse a can of Coke, though I'm trying to acquire a taste for tea and have been drinking it more often.

I'm probably crazy but water seems to dry out (?) my throat. The only thing that really quenches my thirst is Coke... but I am starting to gain weight because of them (diet anything will never happen because I LOATHE the taste of artificial sweeteners).

Oddly enough, I'm not addicted to caffeine. I try to buy caffeine free coke whenever it's affordable and I notice no difference in my mood or alertness.

LOL that is so true, why the hell does coffee smell like 57483957439 times better than it tastes??

I don't know, while that's true, I still like the taste. I chose "once a day" because usually I have 1-2 cups of coffee when I get up in the morning, they're fairly small, but very strong and black, so not diluted w cream or anything. (I seriously use like 3-4 heaping scoops for like 2 cups of coffee. XD very strong.) I suppose if I had money I'd get some fancy gourmet beans or something and grind them myself, would be much nicer and fresher, but since I'm broke I just get Maxwell House. which is NOT BAD AT ALL, imo.

      (Folgers. is. NASTY.)

is it just me, or does anyone feel like decaffinated coffee is...pointless? sometimes I'd like a cup when it's late, but I don't want to be up all night, but I just can't bring myself to drink decaf because I feel like coffee is...so...pointless...without caffiene.
