Thread: Tim Burton wanted to make a Superman movie

The story i heard behind Nicolas Cage was he turned down the role for Superman Returns to do Ghost Rider. Those sketches look dramatically different from the supes most people recognize, but he has the skills to turn it into something good.

Personally I'd like to see him do something with a darker character like Lobo, but I just came across the fact that theres a movie for him in the works.

Hm, somewhat true. He was considered for the role. One thing most people don't know is the role of Clark Kent/Superman was not offered to Brandon Routh first (the guy who ended up playing supes in Superman Returns). It was in fact first offered to the man below.



And yeah, that's Nic cage xD. Tim Burton was still grasping at what he thought made the perfect supes at the time. The above examples are a bit scary to even consider what the hell was going on in his mind.

Woah! I think he would have done a good job though. He's always been good at most action roles.


And yeah, Tim Burton good for gothing stuff out. Visually I've loved all of his movies, but man applying that to Superman just seems weird. It's almost like he's trying to find the most colorful things and twisting them in own image. I wanna slap him and say "just make Beetle Juice 2".

Now a movie featuring Bizarro as the main character, directed by Tim Burton, I'd jump on in a heartbeat. Because that would be badass: Burton could do Bizarro to perfection.

Frankly, I am kind of sick of Tim Burton's movies. They were good for a while but now they all look the same. And I am very sick of Danny Elfman's music! I would hate to see a Tim Burton superman with danny Elfman music. He would probably try to get Johnny Depp to play Lex Luther or something!

On another note, I found out recently that the Harry Potter movies were originally going to be made by Terry Gilliam! Now that would've been a whole whole lot better!!!

You're right MOS, they should have him make the Superman movie, and at the last second change the title to Bizarro World right behind his back; because we know it's gonna be the opposite of what he should be like.

I think so, yes. They got rid of Smith when Burton joined.

I hate to say this but I don't like burton at all really....to me it seems all of his movies have the same godamn 'dark' theme and its so repetitively done and he ALWAYS casts the same damned actors like johhny depp and that ugly woman with the tiny head who i cannot stand to look at (she was in fight club also, corpse bride)

the only good burton movies were batman, beetlejuice, scissorhands.

Tim Burton annihilated Planet of the Apes. He needs to find another job.

He needs to just retire, he looks like a burnt out acid head who doesn't know when his repetitive movie formula has dried up just like the lack of ideas from his head.
