      Epic music while sleeping/falling asleep?

Ok so this may sound stupid but...

I was wondering if listened to epic music thats not too loud either when im falling asleep or have my ipod play it at a certain time at night when im asleep would it help me visualize an epic battle between two nations or something like that.

Very possible I'd imagine. I've had many experiences where I'm having a dream while my brother being already awake is either playing a video game or watching cartoons or a movie, and it totally influences the dream I'm having. Sometimes to the very dialogue, except I may of course interpret the characters to look totally different.

Perhaps you should try it out and let us know of your outcome! I know I'd be interested, I might even try it myself.

I think this would be possible, but has a really fine line of how loud the music has to be and how concentrated and dedicated you are.

While your falling asleep, paint that battle as a picture on the back of your eye lids but at the same time not thinking about where you are or when you fall asleep.

Maybe a WBTB technique would help, wake up and play your music very lightly (not moving remember) and try to paint that same picture on the back of your eye lids.

Remember, To dream into a character, you must also forge yourself into it.
Be creative and feel the position in your battle and feel as epic as you want your dream to be.

To add to what Danshan suggested... maybe choose your song beforehand. It likely wouldn't have to be a 30 minute song like you'd imagine it would. Something around 5 or 6 minutes would probably be more than enough. As you're listening, close your eyes and visualize the battle. Who are you? Who are you fighting against? What are you fighting for? Where is the battle taking place? Imagine it down to every last detail. Do this right before you go to bed. Then try a WBTB technique... Good luck! Keep us informed.

I conducted an experiment in a college psychology class in which I got my parents and myself to listen to classical music while sleeping (the entire night) some nights and not other nights. I concluded no difference in dream content or recall ability at all, and believe me I compared a lot of factors in the dreams. Content, vividity levels, color, emotion, etc. Maybe 'epic music' would be different, or maybe there was something wrong with the experiment. I think the experiment was okay, (besides the small sample size of people), although I hadn't studied the scientific method yet at that time, the method I used seems scientifically valid looking back.
