Is it me or does tea have a remarkable effect on Consciousness?

I often drink a cup of Tea before bedtime as it relaxes my body and calms my Mind while at the same time it clears and sharpens my mind andpotentiates it's attention focus. Whenever I try any specific LDtechnique I also often drink Tea before sleeping as I can see how Tea's effects can be desirable to experience while asleep and Dreaming in respect to having Lucid Dreams.

Maybe in time I have put more and more faith in Tea and this is how I can drink a Cup of Tea and really experience how it washes away the dullness and thought-chaos in my Mind leaving me Calm but very mentally awake and aware.
Peacefully wakefull in a way I can easily sleep. I don't know to what extent this is my ''Idea"about Tea (Placebo) or what Tea actually does. I am a real Tea-o-phile I should admit. However Tea is stimulant as it contains Caffeïne and Theïne which is why alot of people drink it to become more awake in the morning when they feel really groggy.

      Anyone else noticed this?
Maybe if Tea has these properties it would be a good Idea to consume ALOT of Tea about an hour before bedtime; being able to take a seriously long leak before going to bed.

      Hey Ska,

I have noticed that tea is indeed relaxing. Before bed, I drink plain decaf (I am very much a coffeeholic during the day, gotta give my poor body a break at night&#33 or sometimes peppermint, ginger, herbs like that.

There might be one of those nifty chemicals in tea that may enhance dreaming or whatnot. I am not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised to find that out from a more knowledgable person.

Don't poo-poo the emotional or mental aspects of your nightly tea time, and I mean beyond the placebo effect. There is very good value in the ritual of such a thing. Most people equate the word "ritual" with prayers, gongs, candles and whatnot. But, if a set of actions like prepping and drinking the tea serves to put you in the right frame of mind for a task (like: sloughing off the days worries, getting ready and psyched for a good nights dreaming) then AMEN! That's a ritual! No prayers, no incense, no spirit guides. Just tea time. A personal sacred rite that you made up! And unlike many religious rituals, apparently it's very effective at what it does -- you have better dreams.

      Cool.

I only make the change from coffee to tea when I have headaches. If anything, I should cut down my coffee consumption, though when one has to do a lot of programming, coffee really is your friend. Oh well... at least my vice is with coffee, and not with other substances like alcohol (still drink... though not as often as my mates) and stuff.

If there's anything I learned by listening to my Body ( not in terms of words, but in terms of relaxation/pain, rest(lessness) and Mindstate it is that Tea is better than coffee.

Does anyone know Mint? I don't mean Peppermint, which is sharper, but Middle eastern, Sweet mint.
I have alot of it growing in my Garden and it smells really sweet. I always put the leaves in my Tea to give the tea a wonderful taste. Also it physically relaxes you alot more than just Tea without Mint.
