      promoting dreaming

Are ther any herbs to promote dreaming that i don't know about. I usually take 2pills of Benadryl and 2pills of ginko biloba before bed but my drems really aren't dreams. It's more like something that actually happened. like last night i dreamt a guy was walking on my bed with muddy boots. the night before that i dreamt i was playing soccer with a girl i like and we have played soccer before so it wasn't that great. any help would be appreciated.

I'd recommend not taking these pills unless you actually need to. Not to mention, isn't Benadryl an anticholinergic?

Are you keeping a dream journal? Try to just keep a steady dream journal, that is a better way to start remembering your dreams, becoming familiar with them, and recalling them.

      Reality checking
to increase your awareness is the way to go if you want to be able to start becoming aware in your dreams and more submersed in them.

I don't believe lucid aids actually work on helping you become lucid. I just think they help make your dream more vivid. That doesn't nessasarly been you'll be lucid.

Maybe the Benadryl supresses early night REM, and causes some rebound later in the night? Similar to Melatonin? I can't really see this working, since it tends to knock me out for 12 hours. It would have to be a looong night

I'm not a big fan of sleeping aids, but I understand they are necessary. Make sure you are following all the Sleep Hygiene advice doctors normally give out before they proscribe a sleep aid. That sort of thing can make a big difference.

I'm going to move this to the Lucid Aids section to see if anyone there has any good advice.
