Question Shrooms and having your first lucid?

I am well experienced with shrooms and lucid dreams (I've experienced both several times) but my brother has no experience with either, and he had something interesting happen to him the other night. He took shrooms for the first time ever early in the day (around 11:00) tripped for a good 5 hours, and once he came down from the high he was down completely. He wasn't tripping whatsoever when he went to bed. That night he experienced his first lucid dream. He had been trying for a while to have one by using the DILD method, but until that night, after he'd done the shrooms earlier in the day, he'd never successfully had a LD. The funny part about his dream was that he told me he never had to do a reality check to become lucid. It just came to him.

I've never really thought about shrooms (aside from Fly Agarics) helping with gaining lucidity. I don't think I've had a lucid dream as a direct result of taking Psilocybin mushrooms, though I'm sure I've had a lucid dream the night after taking shrooms during the day. I've had times when I've taking shrooms and had non lucid dreams that night, and times when I've had lucid dreams without any help. It never crossed my mind that shrooms could help. Does anyone have insight on this?

My brother had his shroom/ lucid experience two days ago, and last night he didn't take any shrooms or have any lucid dreams. Could magic mushrooms help?

Something else I've been wondering is has anyone taken shrooms before going to bed? Is it possible to fall asleep while under the effect of magic caps? What kind of dreams do you have? This is something I've always wanted to try with Psilocybin Cubensis mushrooms. I've done it with Amanita Muscaria mushrooms but that's a different experience all together. Any insight on P.C. would be appreciated!

I think magic mushrooms affect the same receptors in the brain as serotonin, so this might have something to do with it, as serotonin increases the duration of a REM cycle (i think this is the reason doing the WBTB method causes very vivid dreams as being awake stimulates serotonin production) which would increase the vividness of the dream and make it easier to become lucid.

I am more experienced with psilocybe semilanceata but have had P.C mushrooms several times and for me i have found it impossible to sleep untill the effects are nearly completely gone on both strains. But the next time i go to sleep my dreams are very vivid, i havent become lucid but im not that great at inducing LD, sometimes i get them frequently and other times i go though a dry spell.

The only time i have fallen asleep while tripping was on san pedro tea (due to being up way too long) after about 5-7 hours i crashed out, woke up about 2 hours later still tripping but couldnt remember any dreams at all.

Wow, I'm gonna do more experimenting with shrooms and lucids.

Do you think a trip would be worth it if I ate them before bed? Even if I didn't fall asleep. Like just lying in place in darkness... is that a good trip or would it be a waist?

Some of my most deep and meaninful trips have been done at night when lying in darkness, but more often then not i have a dim lamp on. But it all depends on what you want to get out of the experience. When i have attempted it at night i wanted to go deep into my inner psyche, see aspects of my self and the situation im currently in from a different angle, and connect with the mushrooms spirit to really see what is important in life.

So i chose to do it night so there were minimal distractions, i wouldnt want the doorbell to go when im that deep. Darkness/low light also seems to enhance the visuals as well. So if you dont mind doing some introspection then it wont be waste, just make sure you dont have anything major planned for the next day.

Sounds pretty great ha ha. I've taken shrooms about 20+ times, and I've tried some pretty insane shit while trippin, but I've never had the idea to do it at night, so here goes! I'm doing it tonight or tomorrow. I'll post how it went.

great post cheers. havent had any shrooms for ages and not since ive been into lucid dreaming. going to have some soon again though and very much looking forward to trying them with my recent increases in awareness. going to try and see if i can get a full on WILD going. i know ive felt the early stages on them before but was not sure what was really going on so i guess fear pulled me back. can anyone with experience of using shrooms to help with dreaming give me any tips? im going to make sure i dont have a smoke after to make sure that if i do get any good dreams that night, i will remember them. im pretty sure the best way to go about it would be to meditate and keep still and hold your gaze on something. this worked with acid before and literally just opened up a hole in reality with hypnagogic images and i was able to step into a dream. again though i didnt really understand what was happening at the time, but after a few years of research i feel im finally ready to have another go at facing my fears and letting go. wish me luck.

Interestingly I'd only had 1 or 2 lucid dreams until I first tried psychedelics. Then I started having them without trying.

I'm actually planning to take some shrooms tonight and see how it affects my dreams since previously I wasn't actively trying to lucid dream, but now I am. I'll report back my findings

Psilocybe mushrooms did not gave me lucid dreams - it made me remember dreams which i had over the years even dreams i couldn't remember after waking up . Ayahuasya and mushrooms and HWB seeds did not gave me a lucid dream however they affect me in my sleep in a different way - after waking up i felt good and healed so something psychological happened.
Taking something to force or get something is not a good idea in general , you should only do it when you are calm of mind without really desiring the substances.

Because when your ego gets in the way these psychoactive substances it will only magnify your ego.... use it with being humble , thankfull while second guessing reality but still respecting each reality this is the reason why i prepare by telling myself not to use it , respect it , respect nature spirits and meditate. i never use like just using.. i first ask nature to heal me and i thank the spirits for doing so - promising them i would become a better person for my enviroment. if that's too cheesy for you you still can thank god or allah or whatever you regard as a universal being.... it's all about being humble and giving up the ego.

i agree with using shrooms at night... during the day their is too much light too much noise and other disturbances , the next day you shouldn't plan anything .. just a free day because you don't know how your trip will work out - it could be a bad trip leaving you depressed and full of anxiety for several days or weeks. With a bad trip i mean a physical bad trip - bad trips are good because they are just problems emerging from your unconcious layer so they can be conciously transformed and healed.
If you want to use mushrooms start at a low dose , you don't need a strong dose to heal problems . the second time you can do a stronger trip by taking a higher dose HOWEVER your body gets temporarily immunity after taking shrooms , you should wait several days or 2 weeks before using them again.
