Dream 1.
I dreamed of driving north on a hilly, straight highway in Florida. Very vivid bright blue skies and green trees and grass. My speedometer read 70mph but I could feel myself going 100mph or more. My vision split and I began turning stereoscopic; I could see two roads and two steering wheels. It made me incredibly nervous.
Scene changed. I was in a store, watching people apathetically prepare for an incoming hurricane. Worried, defeated faces. I tried telling someone they could use one of the ridiculously large tupperware containers as a makeshift boat if the store floods. I was ignored. I wandered near the customer service counter and into a dark room that was empty except for a small bed with a rusted, golden frame up against a wall.
Dream 2.
Dusk in the woods.
A line of people dressed in medieval garb trudged down a trail quietly. Some of them seemed like prisoners being escorted. A man approached me, casually asking me if I had seen the news lately. I said no. He explained it was all over TV, that undeniable proof had been found that something intelligent had once inhabited Mars. I asked if there were photos, and he nodded. He told me he has some that haven't been made public yet. He showed me glossy photos of dusty coins with strange symbols, what looked like discarded plastic with labels that had English characters mixed with symbols I hadn't seen before. I looked closely, searching for a printed date. I found "2036". There were more photos of dozens of slabs of stone stacked like cards and dominoes in tall formations.
I was now aware of being in a high tech space suit, climbing onto a rover. The other 5 people on my team were already huddled on the back in single file like they were on a big bob sled. We drove out of the building and down the street, past a small crowd of people snapping photos and into a YMCA. A double set of doors slammed shut by themselves, which I understood as an indication that we were getting close to the portal to Mars. We drove into the pool room and then off the edge of the pool and into the water towards the portal that was opened up below. I could feel a strange kind of energy in the room. I tried fitting my oxygen mask to my face but found I couldn't breathe with it on. I mildly panicked and was about to jump out of the rover and abandon the mission when I woke.
