      First WILD :D

This morning, I finally had my first WILD, and I was rather chuffed (:
Ive been having very little luck with DILDs etc, and thought that this method would give me a better degree of control and vividness - which it did. However, it was very shortlived, only 30-40 seconds in all, and I accomplished very little. The dream started to lose clarity about halfway through, and it was a downward spiral from there. I entered it in a strange way though, instead of waiting through all of the stages of HI, I gave up and decided I'd just go to sleep. But suddenely realised that I was in SP, very far into HH- with a long dark corridor pictured in my head. This turned into an FA, which I caught very quickly. Was this perhaps why the dream was unstable?

Anyhow the main reason for posting this, is because of what i couldn't do:

I realised that the dream needed stabilising, and i remember (I think it was Moose?) someone telling me that he ate a chip in his dream - which helped a lot, as it used all five senses. So I thought, Ill go to my school's dining hall! I have heard that people use ordinary doors to take them places, so i tried to use the door in my bedroom, but it just lead to where it normally does (The landing - although there was a mirror out there, and it proved interesting.) Why didnt it work? Any help would be appreciated (:
      just lol...

Congrats I don't think FA make the dreams any more or less stable...It may have just been excitement but I don't know.

Also the door thing happened to me too....I opened my bedroom door but it led to where it normally does and I didnt want to leave so I closed it and lost lucidity soon after lol

Well I hope to try again tonight (:
I dont think that its the FA that made it lose stability, I think its because instead of having the build up towards the dream, I had woken straight into SP, with HI, but not really sure (: sure was an interesting experience though

Yep, that's pretty much the curse of WILDing. Figuring out how to just fall asleep, but remain aware enough to pass through. There are so many different ways to enter a WILD. HI is just one technique. Some people use sound, some people use physical sensations. Some people (like me) don't even feel a transition, and end up missing it altogether.

But suddenely realised that I was in SP, very far into HH- with a long dark corridor pictured in my head. This turned into an FA, which I caught very quickly. Was this perhaps why the dream was unstable?
Hmm... This, I'm unsure of. Whenever I catch a false awakening, it tends to be fairly unstable, yes. I've since learned that I actually should just try the WILD again, while I'm dreaming. I call it a dream-WILD, and Percylucid (an admin around here) calls it an L-DEILD. When I dream-WILD it is always successful and fast.

It may be due to the fact that in real life, the door leads to the landing, so your brain wanted to accommodate that. *shrugs* But don't feel too bad, portalling is extremely difficult to do! I still have issues with it, myself.

Serenity, thankyou for your reply (: Ill be sure to try that in my next lucid!
Ive heard so many ways of how to transition, with rolling over, using "astral projection" rope technique, sinking, HI, etc. But I think transitions shouldnt be too bad, its just getting there successfully, as the SP distracts me, my heart starts going mad, and breathing goes all funny. Once again, thanks for the help (:
