I had an interesting morning today.

First off, let me say I haven't been keeping up with writing in any dream journal or anything because what I noticed was that when I would write anything down I'd become too mentally awake to fall asleep again afterwards.

That said, this morning started off like any other. Alarm went off at 7:30, I hit the snooze and slept. Here is my chronology of events:

7:35: Alarm went off. I woke up and realized within the 5 minutes I slept I was having dreams. Hit the snooze..

7:40: Alarm went off. Within that 5 minutes I was again having dreams. SO, I decided to try the "Am I dreaming?" mantra for the next snooze.

7:45: Alarm went off. In these 5 minutes, I was dreaminig I was in an outlet store. I was both the customer and the staff, talking to myself about some dress shirt. Outside it was early afternoon because the sun was beaming in through the windows. When I looked up however, it was pitch black and I was staring into the night sky full of stars. It reminded me of those astronomy exhibits with the dome shaped roof full of stars. I thought nothing of it, until the "Am I dreaming?" mantra kicked in and I realized I was in a dream.

Suddenly everyone else in the store disappeared. My 2nd self disappeared as well, and I was the only one in the store. The sun started setting extremely fast; I could see it changing colors and getting dimmer outside. When I looked out the window, in the reflection I could see myself sleeping in my room. The point of view was from the ceiling. I tried (for the very first time) to do something to test control. I couldn't fly or teleport, but I was able to conjure up and maintain a big blue ball of flame in my hand. I exited the front door and started walking around outside, but I was interrupted by the alarm.

7:50: Alarm went off. During this dream sequence, I couldn't become lucid. I was in the basement of my old home watching tv and getting ready to run on the treadmill, but there was nothing out of the ordinary in this dream. Nothing I could muster up a "dream sign" for...or maybe I just don't remember anything strange. There weren't any clocks in the room either.

7:55: Alarm went off. This sequence was strange from the get-go. I went to sleep with the "Am I dreaming?" mantra, and as I drifted off into a dream state I already knew I was dreaming before I even started dreaming. I could see the restaurant/bar coming together so it didn't feel real. It was like I was on a stage and everything was a prop. The easiest way for me to explain it is the Old Spice commercial where everything fell perfectly into place. If you don't know what I'm talking about, here:

There was a big table in front of the bar and the cast of The Hangover was sitting there talking to my family, with about 10 other people but I didn't know who they were. Outside it was dark, but again, in the window I could see the reflection of myself sleeping. The place was alive with conversation, but no one could see me. That's when I realized no one was physically there. Everyone was a cardboard cutout like a baseball card, permanently fixed in their pose but still somehow moving. ie. waiters were still walking around.

I tried to see how high I could jump. I couldn't jump any higher than I normally can, but instead of falling I floated down like I would if I was on the moon. Since I was still "on stage" and the bar wasn't real, I snapped my fingers and the bar, tables, chairs, and everything else started moving around again. It changed to a beach scenery, but before I could explore anything the alarm went off.

When I woke up I tried to fall asleep again, but at this point I was too awake to do it. Writing about it here is sort of my "journal" on this morning
