Last few days I was trying to use DILD and than programming my mind to wake up after every single dream...

After three days I usually woke up 4 times per night and not even frags of a dream came to me...

So I gave up doing that, now I'm just saying myself to remember the all dreams of the night without waking up after them!

The first night I did it I remembered 2 dreams and a fragment!!!

So for you, what really works?? Just waking up one time and remebering all night dream or waking up after every dream??? (Using an alarm clock or not)
      A new beginning?

Hello Henrique. I've been trying to get good dream recall as well. For a while now, I had been trying to waken early with an alarm clock, but I hadn't been remembering any dreams. I don't know HOW you wake up multiple times at night without an alarm, but it seems neither of us have to.

Some people I take it just don't remember dreams if woken abruptly or early. I know that the only way I remember dreams ever is if I wake up naturally, so I guess the problem is learning to remember all nightly dreams, instead of learning WHEN to wake up!

Two questions, though: Have you ever had a lucid dream, and...

HOW did you "program" your mind to wake at certain times at night? I've been interested in doing this for reasons other than dreaming, and I don't know the correct method.

      Good work on your recall!

      Hi Ritcher!

So lets start with your questions

Yes, I already have my LD! It was last year. That year I started to practice LD and after a month I had my first one! Man, its amazing!! (After having yours you'll probably start see things with another eyes! ) But after this one I've tried hard and nothing... no more LD... So I gave up...
Now, I'm back to LD Journey and I'm very anxious to have another one!

To wake up during the night I just do DILD (Before sleep I say myself with confidence that I'll wake up after every dream and remember it), but Richter, it doesnt work for me... When I wake up at the middle of night I really dont remember my past nightly dreams! So for me, is a waste of time. What is doing right for me is to say myself to remember all dreams without waking up during the night!

Doing that last night I recalled 2 dreams and a fragment instead 1 single dream...

And you, have any LD? and have you ever tried WILD??

Yeah, I had two VERY limited LDs, and one great LD, complete with control and vividness. However, I haven't found a reliable method to induce them, yet.

As for WILD, I never actually tried, as I figured it would be too much at once to try. Right now I'm working on recall and basic lucid dreams, like DILDs.

I'll try your method. I haven't remembered more than one dream in a night, but I've tried stopping using an alarm clock and just waking naturally. wOOt! I just remembered a REALLY vivid and long dream! Definately, sleeping in has helped.

      Good luck to ya.

I wake up about 4 times a night and remember dreams from each time However, if I don't write them down or make an effort, they evaporate and by morning, I cannot remember anything.

Sorry for repeating myself, but HOW do you wake up multiple times at night!?!?!

I've tried telling myself to awaken after every dream at night, keeping that thought until right before I fall asleep. I take a while to fall asleep (+30min), and constantly repeating ANY mantra over in my head keeps me up, so I'm at a loss. I'm starting to wonder if I have a normal sleep cycle!

Now, I will admit my recall has improved significantly; I can remember one dream upon awakening every other night at least, although the clarity isn't great, but still. Now my only problem is remembering MORE than one. Please help!

My goal is to awaken after every dream. How do I accomplish this?

Don't worry, Richter! Just ask me!

As I said to you... For me just saying myself that I need to wake up after each dream is enough... But it does not mean that doing this you can remember all dreams easily... For me it really doesnt work... I think its because the fact that I'm sleepy... so after waking at the middle of the night I'm still too somnolent to remember a thing!! Hehehehehe

Hey Richter, what works for me is just wake up at the morning (befere the alarm is better) and concentrate to remember all dreams... Last night I remembered 1 dream and 2 frags... Not so good...
If you still so ambicious about DR, you should set your alarm clock to strike every 90 minutes, because this is the commom people REM cycle! Doing that you'll probably be awaken during your dreams! Making DR easier! It may work fou you!

Richeter, how long have you been practicing LD? And can you remember your dream with a good clarity? Because mine came to me with low details (almost nothing I say in my dreams I can remember)......

And finally how were you LD, full lucidity?

Ok, I've tried telling myself to wake up after each dream, but I'm either not waking up or not remembering waking up. I don't know if I would actually remember any extra dreams in the night. So, I guess we ARE in the same boat.

I've never tried setting the alarm every 90min; just about 90min before I normally wake. I think this is because on some nights it takes me more than 90min just to fall asleep. I will definately try this though.

I've been practicing LDing for about a year now. Actually, that's false; I've been trying to cure my insomnia for a year, and have just recently moved on to trying to get better recall. IF I remember a dream, it's usually decently clear. Problem is, my frequency of remembering is pitiful: maybe 2 a week. It's like this: when I wake up, I know right away if I remember any dream. If I remember a dream, I remember ALL of it. If I don't, I feel as if I haven't dreamed all night, though this is impossible!

As for my lds, my first two happened out of pure luck in quick succession, and were only lucid for about 10 seconds. Read my DJ if you like. As for my last ld, it was lucid all the way through, and I had very good control of myself. I was too happy I was lding to try anything else but flying.

Hey Richter! Setting you alarm clock to strike every 90 minutes is good to remember your dreams, but as you said, you fall asleep slowly, dont you? So doing that is a waste of time! In a week you'll be tired enough to practice LD!

Last night I wake up direclty from a dream at 2 o'clock and I remembered it well... But when I woke up in the morning I couldnt recall no more dreams, just the first one!

Richter, many nights when I woke up in the morning I felt like that I havent dreamed (its impossible as you said)... What I do to remember it is to stay as you wake up... do not move and try to remember wahat you did last day and what people you met! Try this about 15 minutes and the dreams just come to you!!

As for me, sometimes I wake up at least twice though the night, usually no more than about 3 times, but for the most part I normally sleep straight through. I think my internal clock is defaulted at somewhere around 7 hours of sleep and if I wake up it's usually during the first hour.

      Nice Topic by the way.

If you want to force yourself to wake up multiple times at night, you'll have to get used to doing so a little first. Setting your alarm clock will work for that. I used to set my alarm clocks after six hours of sleep, then write down my dreams and sleep for another two hours. After a while, I started waking up automatically right before the 6 hours were past. That's the way your biological alarm clock works.
I'm sure everyone's had important days that they were thinking of when they went to bed the night before, resulting in waking up in the morning fully energized right before the alarm clock went off.

Like with inducing DILDs this has a lot to do with intention. Being used to it, wanting to do it, telling yourself you will do it, all helps with making your biological alarm clock go off when you want it to.
It's not something you can just turn on to make it happen. It really just happens automatically sometimes. The above methods are ways to give it a reason for happening and thus, can make you wake yourself up, albeit indirectly

An interesting fact may be that everyone actually wakes up for a short period of time after each REM cycle (i.e. about five times every night). Barely conscious, we then fall back asleep and forget about waking up.
