hey, i'm really getting the hang of this!

I'm walking back from the vets with graeme, he and i are both humming the same tune. Kelly is on my left, graeme on my right.
He holds out his arm, in the manner of a gentleman, for me to take, so he can guide me across the road.
I rest my fingers on his arm, and then slide them down to his hand. At this point i become nervous, as he wants to cross the road on a green light, and it's very busy, and i can feel kelly watching us, although i keep my gaze straight ahead of me.
'this is unreal' i can recall thinking.
I concentrate on graeme holding my fingertips, and kelly 'disappearing'. i just feel like she has no part of this anymore, and she shouldn't be there...
by the time i've crossed the street with graeme, she's gone.
as she begins to fade, he rests his hand against mine, palm to palm, and very slowly locks my fingers through his. By this time i am fully lucid, and enjoying the sensation of touch, just as i do in life.
when he's holding my hand, i suddenly feel a soaring happiness, and then i lose it!!

Yep, you're definitely getting the hang of attaining lucidity, but you have to work on stabilizing the dream. You're having trouble because you're getting excited, which in turn is due to Graeme's presence. There's really no way around this problem--just try not to get excited during a dream. This will probably be difficult, especially since it's due to a DC's presence. The simple answer would to try not to involve Graeme in a dream. That's probably not something you'd enjoy, however, and since the primary (or near primary) purpose of an LD is to have fun, I wouldn't take this course. The only other solution I can come up with is to stay calm. Be confident, and sure that you're the one in control of the dream. When you begin to get excited, try measuring your breaths, and slow down. Just relax a bit and the dream will re-stabilize. There's other techniques on maintaining dream stability available in the Tutorial section of the page if this doesn't help.

      Happy dreaming!

      what's a 'DC's prescence'?
      sorry if i'm being ignorant.
re the bit about remaining calm, next time i feel myself getting all over excited, i'll just tell myself to calm down!!
act like it's no big deal.

DC = Dream Character. You're not being ignorant. The only ignorant person is one who doesn't bother to ask questions.

thanks, but unfortunately, he is the one dream character i really want to see at the moment, i've had to work quite hard to get him back in my subconcious, let alone practice lucidity with him!
i used to dream about him a lot, and then other things crowded my head, and he disappeared.
i reached a point in my life, with someone, where i felt really discontent, and he reappeared, but then disappeared out again.

As Stephen Stills said "if you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with". I think that applies to lucid dreams quite well.

sorry, i don't think it was very clear.
it wasn't him i became discontent with, but the other person that i tried to replace him with, and that did not work at all.
i know never to try that again.
this other person is well over, whereas my dream character is not, and is not likely to be anytime soon.
