A lucid dream, or a dream of a lucid dream?

I had the strangest dream session last night. I can remember one part where my friend said something strange like, "It smells like brain cells", and that, for some reason, caused me to respond with something like, "That's probably because my brain is creating this... I must be dreaming!". Shortly after that, everything went fuzzy...

Now, I can't remember if I actually woke up and went back to sleep, and had a false awakening in the second dream, or whether the false awakening was right after the 'lucid' dream. If the false awakening was after the 'lucid' dream, then maybe it wasn't actually a lucid dream, it was just a dream about how lucid dreaming would feel...

      Think about it.

I always hear people say things like this and it sort of makes sense, but it isn't right. The subconscious can't control your actions in a dream, so it can't get you to simulate lucidity. If you said you were dreaming, you really knew it. It might have been low-level lucidity, but it was lucidity.

I know what you mean, I haven't quite had a "full blown" lucid dream yet. Of the few lucid dreams I've had, they were very low lucidity, and I woke from them feeling like they were really just dreams of lucid dreaming.
