      Dream Guide?

I had my most lucid dream in months tonight, and accomplished something new, and did so practically on command

I'm been having semi-lucids almost every night, generally using the situation to chase dream ladies. Tonight, going to sleep, I thought to myself, "I'll have a real LD tonight, and I won't just have sex or do magic tricks, I'll talk to my dream characters and ask them questions." I didn't hold onto the idea, because I didn't want it to keep me awake, but just let it go and hoped it would be true.

It totally happened. I was wandering around an old, tree-filled neighborhood, wondering where I was and where I would sleep, when I remembered, "I don't have to worry about it, I'm home in bed." The dream went super vivid and I rose up into the air and floated along at speed just a couple feet above the road.

I encountered someone eventually, and stopped to talk. While I was talking to this DC, another appeared and explained (a bit cryptically, granted) an image that comes up often in my dreams lately. He gave me a strong sense of good-will, and I didn't feel the need to press him for clearer answers. As he was leaving, smiling almost beatifically, he became clothed all in gold, including shoulder tassles and a cowboy hat, and I said, "Goodbye golden cowboy. Thanks."

It occurred to me when we were talking and he said something about "you and me" that really only I was there, but that didn't seem quite true, so I didn't say it. It also occurred to me that this might be my DG, but I don't put much stock in such ideas, so again I kept quiet.

Still, I wonder if this was a DG of some sort, whether internal or external. Perhaps I'll try this again another time, if I'm able.

/me is suddenly thinking about picking up those Castenada books that he's had for months and never thought he'd crack open.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

      Dear Taosaur,

Yes, you met something of an Archetype, a very High Archetype -- the beatific smile would lead me to suspect that you had an encounter with Divine Being. Why? Well, for the first time you decided to put your Lucid Dreaming to some Higher Use, and so you were rewarded.

I wish more lucid dreamers would consider putting their dreams to better use. so many dreamers simply want to use their Dreaming for masterbatory release, when, honestly speaking, don't they have all day long for jerking off?

But, anyway, you have met one manifestation of the Wise Old Man Archetype, or perhaps even the Cosmic Christ Archetype. What is the difference? The Wise Old Man will come to you at times in your life with pointed pieces of advice and words of encouragement, or words of warning even. The Cosmic Christ seems to be younger and His influence is less in words than in a animating and spiritualizing radiance which emanates from Him. To have the Cosmic Christ Archetype to appear in your dream is to certify that you are receiving the Patronage and Sponsorship of Heaven. You could still manage to screw your life up and sell out to the Dark Side, but only after wasting the opportunity of having had the very Gates of heaven opened up to you.

      Thanks for the response, Leo.

Interesting interpretation, though I'm not really shooting for Heaven. Sounds more like the Christ figure you describe than the old wise guy. Is that symbol system necessarily meaningful for non-monotheists? I suppose there was an immanence to the fella...
