      What exactly was this?

I had a very strange experience last night. I'm not sure if this was an OBE within a lucid dream or not (is that even possible)? Here's the scenario, very shortly. This is also in my dream journals but there is nothing more there than you will find here.

I don't remember much of the scenario, but I remember dying from murder. I'm not sure what happened to me. I believe it was judgment day if you believe in that. I don't, so I don't know why I dreamed it. Anyways, I ended up begging God/Jesus to have mercy on my soul. After that, I died. I immediately woke up (or so I thought) I was still dreaming. I sat up and as I did I felt a surge of energy flow through my body. This made my heart race, but more in the exciting aspect rather than the terrified way. I looked behind me at the pillow and there I was sleeping. I was looking at myself - Although I don't remember seeing any facial features or anything. All I know is that I knew I was looking at myself. At this point, I freaked out. I remember thinking to myself "I'm having an out of body experience", I slammed myself down back into my body and I woke up.

Can anybody tell me what exactly happened to me?
I've never experienced an out of body but I have done a lot of research on them.

Why an OBE within a lucid dream? Sounds to me like you had a lucid dream, and then an OBE during a false awakening. Or at least one of those SP experiences that are so similar to OBE. People experience weird and very powerful things after they dream they die. I'm not sure if it might have been an actual OBE or just the dream giving you a "profound" experience that your subconscious thinks it might be like after death.

Thanks for the response, I just said that it was within the LD because that's what made sense to me at the time, but now that I think of it I thought I was actually awake. So you are correct, my apologies. This was a very interesting/new experience for me. Hopefully this is a starter for more experiences. I have been preparing more lately.

Any chance you've seen Inception? Ever since that movie came out, apparently everybody's talking about dreams inside of dreams. My guess anyway.

Perhaps that short episode of lost dream memory wasn't really a simulation of 'Judgment Day', as much as it was a surge of fear. Many times, when one is consumed in the idea of fear, the universe seems like such a frail place. The idea of the 'apocalypse' usually withholds these kind of thoughts and emotions. Fear of an end to what you know. That kind of image tends to stick into your subconscious, whether you believe it or not. ...

As for the OBE,... it could be an OBE,... it could not.
I've had a dream where I was floating about a distorted version of my actual surroundings (have had many dreams as such). Yet, despite my house becoming a de-arranged mansion so suddenly, I knew where I slept, and when I traveled there, I woke up.

My explanation for such has either to do with the creative imagination during dreaming fusing with the OBE in some way, or having to do with some extra-dimensional astral existence of countless possibilities. ... Or it could be both in one.

I neglect to see that movie. No. I haven't. Even though I am a big DiCaprio fan.

That's very interesting, thank you for sharing your experiences/input.
