Since you fell asleep during your first attempt and had a average dream you were having a MILD that transitioned into a DILD. Or you could've been lucky and have already been relaxed and the hypnagogic imagery appeared on it's own.
After you woke from your first dream and transitioned into the phase where you had light in your eyes attempting to WILD. You slowly opened your eyes and went into the dream world.
Remember this man, whenever you close your eyes and attempt to do something in your attempts, do RCs. I do reality checks during my attempts and when I am awake. Also before you go to bed, say mantras about going to sleep, having a lucid dream and whatever else you want to happen. Also you are going to want to have a dream journal to keep your scraps and or whole dreams within. Doing this will actually help your dream recall which is the way to remember dreams. People say they don't have dreams when they don't have good dream recall. Also sometimes if you do Lucid Dreams on a regular basis you may do Astral Projection or an OOBE(Out of Body Experience), which is a little bit different. Binaural Beats will help with Lucid Dreaming sometimes as well.
In conclusion just remember, if you wake up always do reality checks. Those are the keys to checking and remaining in the dream world. You can also stabilize your dreams by rubbing your hands, touching objects in the dream world and spinning. While you do this say to yourself I am dreaming and I am in control.
