Thumbs up binaural beats to induce lucid

I was browsing around some threads here and some mentioned listening to binaural beats to induce lucid dreaming. I made a playlist on youtube that was about 5 hours of these beats. My boyfriend was already passed out when I started playing it. As I gradually fell asleep, I told myself over and over that I was going to do a reality check (Mantra).

I was very aware throughout my dreaming. My dreams were very real seeming. It was strange because although I knew I was dreaming, I was being careful to make sure I was fully asleep before I started the reality checks. After a bit, I finally reminded myself to look at my hands. I looked down, and they were hard to focus on. They were all squiggly and moving around (kinda like the animation in Waking Life).

That's as far as I got. I stared at my hands for a while, but I knew once I broke away from my gaze I would wake up. So, I woke up, looked around the room then passed back out. I started dreaming vivid again, beats still on. Thought about doing a reality check. It felt like so much work and I was so tired I felt like I wasn't getting any real sleep, so I woke back up, turned the beats off (they were about 4 hours in) and called it a night.

I have been lucid before randomly, but have never actually TRIED to become lucid. It's crazy how being aware in your sleep, and trying to be lucid, can be so tiring.

I Always wake myself up when I am lucid, they never last very long. Guess I need more practice.

I told my boyfriend about the Binaural Beats this morning. He was shocked because he said he had very intense vivid dreams.

      Binaural Beats worked for me.

I guess you played the beats through your speakers, as your boyfriend heard them, in which case, they didn't work. They have to be played through headphones. Though the sounds might have helped your sleep in other ways, by creating a relaxing atmosphere or muffling external noise.
In any case, there are more tried and tested ways of inducing lucid dreams, for a beginner, binaural beats have very mixed results, and sleeping with headphones on is a pain in the ass. Have a look at the tutorial section for MILD and DILD, some of the most simplest and effective techniques there are. Bearing in mind everyone is different.
I wish you many more dreams!

The beats DID work. I mean, I am the one who experienced a different dreaming process than usual, so for someone to tell me it DIDNT work is a little strange. How can two people having more vivid than usual dreams equate to the beats not working? Especially when one was completely unaware until the next day?

I never read anything about having to use head phones, and I honestly don't see the difference.

I have already read the tutorial on DILD, and that is the technique I used last night. Also, I have read about MILD around the interweb, and it honestly seems just as tiring, however my boyfriend and I are both be interested in trying it. We have yet to commit.

Binaural beats have to be played through headphones or they will not work.

Like I said, they could have helped your sleep in other ways, but to use them properly you need stereo headphones.
As for mild, it's probably the easiest technique there is - set yourself an intention before going to sleep, intend it, believe it, then go to sleep.

I gotta agree with ShadowOfSelf, I used to sell I-doser stuff at very low prices when I was younger.
I never got the manual but I'm sure it needs to be played through stereo headphones or earplugs (but headphones work the best).
It never worked for me :c , I think that it works on the placebo effect.
However, I made some money with selling placebo stuff .

ACTA is the new bitch now.

Thanks for the Wiki article. I will try it the right way I guess.

Enthusiastic to start MILD, however my sleep patterns are a bit off lately...

I am a beginner to self inducing LD, however I have been experiencing LD since childhood (at random).

      Thanks for the info's, all.
