      Smile First LD!

Wow, it feels awesome to say this, but I had my first lucid experience last night. I would consider it a DILD. I don't remember what made me hold my nose, but I did, and then I gained a sort of semi-consciousness. I did it again, and I could breath through it perfectly. The air felt cold, sort of like I had been outside. But...it worked. I have some questions, but first, the experience.

I was walking in to my dining room, and saw my cat. I paid no attention to him, but instead I tried to put my hand through a chair. I don't remember what happened there. I walked around the large table in the room, and started rubbing my hands together. It felt kind of tingly/ticklish when I did this, but it must have worked. I then walked over to a mirror, and saw myself. Interesting. I then moved on to another mirror and saw another unusual image. I then started rubbing my hands together again and spinning around. But I think I wanted to change to a different setting and that's when I lost lucidity...

The thing is I didn't feel 100% in the dream. Meaning I realized I was dreaming, but I couldn't really control what I was doing. I knew to rub my hands, spin, look in mirror, try to put my hands through stuff, but I wasn't really...there. I want to know how to get the feeling I feel right now. Real.

If someone could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Overall it was an awesome experience, and weirdly enough it came after I had kind of given up again. (I've given up twice now.) The whole week I hadn't wrote in my DJ or really thought about Lucid Dreaming. Last night I really didn't think about anything when my head hit the pillow because I was so tired. So I guess I need to think about LD'ing but not let it become a priority?

      Anyways, thanks for reading.

Sounds like my first couple. Everything is sort of fuzzy and unfocused and you feel like you are being guided and aimed around the dream, instead of being able to think about what you want to do.
Only thing I can say to do is to keep trying for a good while now, and if you feel like giving up again then do that, it seems to have played a part. Maybe taking the odd break from your efforts is what you need.

Yes, oddly enough, sometimes stop trying is exactly what give people their first luciddreams. The unreal and fuzzy feeling your talking about is something i have a real problem with. Are you a deep sleeper? I am, and because of this my vividness seems to suffer, so trying to sleep lighter works really well for me. Take a nap instead or set alarms between each REM.

The vividness comes with time. A lot of people's firsts are like that, you'll gain more control as you practice.

I just had my first "real" LD this afternoon ! I've had the kind of LD where you aware you are dreaming but cant control it before.. but today I had one where I could control most of it ! It was incredible !
I must add I have sleep paralysis and this really helps me get into the LD.. I'm going to do it every time I get paralyzed now ! THE AWESOMENESS IS ABOUT TO BEGIN

Try to look at your hands for a few seconds. As you find more details on your hands, more details will show anywhere else and the dream will be more vivid.
