First lucid dream, REM rebound effect? somewhat disapointing

      Hi,

It was a WILD, I was missing a lot of sleep and was very tired (diablo III lol),
as I Iied down I watch the hypnogenic hallucination as usual but as they became more and more intense this time I kept my lucidity (don't know why, I did nothing special).

Here I was, in a weird building 100% lucid.

When I was a child (10-13) I already had one lucid dream and had no problem to modify anything in the dream (environment, people, flyin)

So first thing I tried, change the environment : not working.
      Summong people : not working.
      Fly : not working.

Damn, here I was, in a weird building and trapped.

But I noticed that each time I opened and closed a door the room next to me kept changing.
So I kept doing it until the outside was on the other side of the door xD, as soon as I step outside 7 chains came out of the ground and grabbed my neck.

WTF? I finally got to get outside and I cannot move.
I tried to cut them "with my mind" nothing, with shear force, nothing.

Then the chains started strangling me, I knew I was dreaming and their was no danger but It was becoming really unpleasant around mt neck.

      I woke up :/

As I already did one lucid dream being a chil I never though that lucid dreams were impossible and I did not know that I sometimes I wouldn't be able to re-organize the dream at will.

      Your thoughts?

PS : I never understood WILD, how are you supossed to enter a dream lucid since they happen in REM sleep, 40 minutes after falling asleep.

However since I was missing a lot of sleep I must have had entered REM sleep as soon as I fell asleep, allowing me to keep my lucidity.

      no?

I dont have much control when doing wake induced LDs but i havent had many. Probably takes practice.
About the rem, I think you enter rem imidiately if you take a nap in a speific period of time after you've woken up. with wbtb I think you enter rem imidiately aswell.

Yes, as you say, that could have been a REM rebound. And yes, REM is the last part of a dream cycle. When you go to bed, nREM is maybe 80 min of the cycle followed by maybe 10 of REM. But closer it gets to the morning, (the longer you sleep), it gets the other way around, the nREM gets really short and REM is really long. That's why it's recommended you attempt a WILD after at least 4.5 hours of sleep, preferably with WBTB. Happy dreams
