Hmm I would definitely suggest doing more reality checks during the day. Also try to practice awareness, and just really notice yourself and your environment in waking life, like the details, etc. It's awareness that gets you lucid in the first place, and the reality checks help you back it up. There are also many instances where people get lucid spontaneously (which seems to be what happened to you) whether by random chance, or just getting that "feeling". That's not a bad thing though, so don't worry about it! In my opinion, that's even better when you get lucid spontaneously, since that could mean you are aware enough to notice that it is a dream without much external stimulus. Lastly, have you checked out some stabilization tutorials? It is important to stabilize once you are lucid, so you can have better control and focus in the dream, and to keep it from falling apart. I've been trying my best to do more reality checks. I have noticed though, that in some of my dreams, I'll think to myself "I'm dreaming," or just know in the back of my mind that I'm dreaming. But nothing changes in the dream, and I don't become lucid. I had a dream that really emphasized this occurrence awhile ago. In it, I knew I could do anything, and whenever I started to get worried about anything, I'd shrug it off, and remind myself that I was dreaming. But it was my DREAM self telling myself that I was dreaming. Not my actual conscious. I don't know why I don't become lucid when these things happen, but I'll just have to keep working on it. I'll definitely check that stabilization stuff out. Thanks for the tip!
I guess if there was suction then it might be kind of hard to fly, but maybe you could try that next time if it were to happen again?
Or have you heard of dream spinning (method to change your dream scenery)? Maybe you could take that concept and alter it a little if you have control over your body. Try something like spinning/flipping while thinking that you will be in water instead of the air. And then when you stop spinning, if you find that you actually are in water, you could come up out of the water to see where you are, or try to decide where you want to be when you come up from the water, or even just explore the underwater world. =D

Wow, I never thought about thinking about doing something besides being pulled out of the dream. I only thought about changing the place I was, which obviously didn't help me from being sucked out of the dream. If it happens again, I'll try the spinning and imagining myself underwater that you mentioned. It seems like it would work to keep me in the dream, so it's worth a try. Great idea!
