Talking My first LD after only 3 days!

      Hi guys.

I signed up to DV a few nights ago before starting to keep a dream journal. On the first 2 nights I recorded 7 vivid non-lucid dreams as accurately as I could as soon as I woke. I spent hours reading MILD techniques, DILD, dream supplements, books, journals, tutorials and so on. Last night I got into bed at 3am after hours of watching lucid dreaming videos on Youtube.

At first I tried to induce sleep paralysis. I had tried this the other night but gave up because my mouth wouldn't stop watering. Again I blocked everything out and went into a deep relaxation. At least half an hour passed before my body started to shut down. I had worked out extensively that day so I could literally feel my muscles aching where I'd isolated them in my workout routine. The pain became unbearable so I shuffled until I could move again. I then just repeated the words Reality ... Check ... Reality ... Check and so on with each heart beat. Note I had ear plugs in so my heart beat was all I could hear. After a while I fell asleep and became unconscious. I can't remember becoming unconscious though, the memory just fades from reality ... check ... reality ... and gone.

I had a vivid dream where I was entering a restaurant looking for a table for me and an old friend. Already sat around a circular table was another friend who I acknowledged but turned around and called another name as if I had got it wrong. I joked about it to the people around me "I can't even get his name right" ... The next dream I'm waking up in bed (it was a false awakening) ... I forget to do a RC like last time. I can hear my mum's voice calling up the stairs. She's asking me questions and as I start to call down and walk downstairs I suddenly realise that I must be dreaming - my mum is away on holiday, this can't be real. So half way down the stairs I stop in my tracks and plug my nose. The air keeps flowing and a surge of excitement rushes through me. I'm lucid dreaming. I've become aware. This is really happening. I get really excited but I remember that I need to ground myself or else this will all go to waste. I'm walking towards the kitchen and I can feel my mouth all watery like when I was trying to induce sleep paralysis. I think to myself it's only a dream I can just spit it out here and now. I go though the motion but nothing comes out. The taste is still there. I think I'll have a drink. There's a 2L bottle of lemonade on the counter by my dad's things. I pick it up and turn toward the kitchen. I look at the clock which reads 1:35. I look away and then look back but the time hasn't changed (which I was expecting it to.) I look away then back again but still the time hasn't changed. Strange. I then remember I need to ground myself so I stare at the bottle in my hand. Now half of the sticker is missing. I go to drink it before waking up in my bed - this time for real. I do a RC and I'm awake. I can still feel my heart racing from excitement. I grab my DJ and scribble down my lucid dream. Then I record the dream in the restaurant beforehand.

I tried to get back to sleep in the hope that I'd have another LD but I was restless. I couldn't sleep normally let alone even attempt WILD for the third time. So there you have it. My first DILD on my third night. I literally can't believe it's happened so fast, and I'm guilty for ever doubting it was possible at one point. To everyone here on DV THANK YOU. And to everyone starting out, just BELIEVE it will happen because it can and does!

Now comes the question. What did I do right? Can anyone identify this? I have noticed that in the past 3 nights the same friends have been popping up, but in my lucid dream it was the realisation that my mum was on holiday and that I must have been dreaming that caused me to become lucid.

I can't wait for the next one!

      Happy Dreaming!

That is pretty awesome! My first lucid dream I had was very short. All I did was do a RC and tried to fly, it worked but then I woke up.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have only been practising for 4 nights now. Last night was terrible, I only got a few hours sleep but had one vivid dream, not the usual 3 or 4 It's because I missed my own bed and my gf wouldn't stop shuffling about! I was just led there thinking please keep still please keep still. Nevermind, I still recorded the one dream I recalled and look forward to an early night tonight in my own bed

I've realised from the few days I've been with DV that like most things, LD is unpredictable. I'm just hoping that the next time I gain lucidity I can successfully ground myself and stabilize the dreamworld. I know about rubbing your hands together or spinning in a circle. Personally rubbing my hands sounds more appealing, I wish I had thought of that the first time round!

Good luck with it Bunnydrummer11, never give up because it will happen. LSD I noticed you also joined this month, I'm guessing you're new to LDing too?

      Happy dreaming,

Awesome job! I just had my first LD last night (wasn't very long) and my first vivid non-lucid dreams in a long time.

I've been on here about the same time as you, and think it's really interesting to read about what other people are doing, and what works for them, and trying to figure out what you're doing right/wrong and how to get better at it

I'll be posting my experiences in a bit

      Nice to meet you!

      Good job sycrat

I'm annoyed that I hadn't read about the stabilization technique where you rub your hands together and it helps to ground you. I wish wish wish I'd done that at the time! Haha

Still, I'm looking forward to my next LD. I've kept up with the reality checks and today I've had plenty of strange moments that have made me stop and question "Am I dreaming?" ... I think the key to a good RC is to really question reality.

What happened in your first LD mate?

Yeah, about stabilisation, I'd read about it before, but I think I was too excited, and tried to fly before stabilising, causing me to lose it, so it didn't last very long

I've done a long write up about mine in this forum, but it won't let me link to it yet!
Go check it out if you like!

I'm really excited for my next one as well!

LSDDream!! A few days ago I had a flashback of an old playstation game that came out in japan ages ago called LSD or something like that. Randomly generated levels based on the coder's lucid dreams. Please tell me that's your inspiration for your name! Haha that would be an epic (and actually kinda scary) coincidence! Lol

sycrat I know the feeling, but we all get a little too excited on our first LD But at least it happened! Bunnydrummer hope your first LD comes soon (Y)

Seriously guys I thought the night before sucked, last night was even WORSE. I had literally NO sleep because my brother kept me up all night playing COD in the next room whilst on team chat. Didn't even get a vivid dream :'( But I've got an early night lined up and a long lie in which should be plenty of dreams for me (I really hope! I can't go two nights without a decent dream)

Dude when I read your last post I had to do a reality check haha thats awesome!

That game rocked. Last night I had a crazy long vivid dream, so much went on and I was always doing something, but no lucidity.

Have kept up the reality checks, they're becoming more frequent now.

Have you guys had any luck?

eleven11, would you describe the "surge of excitement" as pulses going through your chest area?(continously throughout the LD)?

Silver, when I became lucid for the first time yes, it was surges of excitement and anticipation rushing through my whole body, but my chest especially. I managed to calm down and explore a tiny bit before waking up. When I woke I could feel my heart racing

Hey guys. Had my second LD last night! It's strange, I went to sleep at around 2am, and woke up at 7.45 in a calm state in the same position I fell asleep in!

Anyways, I spent a while trying to induce sleep paralysis like usual. I usually give up after a while and just repeat mantras until I fall asleep. This time was no exception. I kept repeating "Lucid dream... Reality check... Lucid dream... Reality check..." and so on for a while, until I fell asleep (unconscious.) I just "appeared" in my first dream. I knew I was dreaming, without even performing a RC... I just knew it somehow. Unlike my first LD, I wasn't overwhelmed with excitement, but I was still pretty excited. I was in a bank with a few friends. I went out to the back room with a couple of them, and started explaining that this was all just a dream and I could do anything I wanted. This time I remembered to rub my hands together. As I did it, the whole dreamscape seemed to rumble with the vibration and friction between my palms. It was an amazing feeling, as I rubbed my hands the dreamscape became more clear and vivid. I told one friend that I could even fly if I wanted to. He said I couldn't so I tried jumping but kept landing back down to the ground in disappointment. My other friend sat me down and said "Know that you can do it." I said out loud "I can do it! ... I can do it! ... I CAN DO IT!" And with that, I burst through the ceiling and emerged into a large city resembling one of the capital cities in a Marvel comic or something. It was a huge busy city and I continued to fly around it in amazement. It was an incredible feeling, so amazing in fact that I lost grip of my lucidity.

As the setting changed I was no longer lucid, but near lucid. The next bit is cool and involved some police chases and jumping off bridges into deep waters, outswimming police choppers and disguising myself as a guard at the shore - but none of it was lucid. What a shame. Still I woke up with a feeling of accomplishment - I'm now on a LD count of 2

Happy days! (Or should I say Happy Dreams!) :p

How are you guys getting along? Any cool dreams lately?

I would say the mantra really helped you. It seems to have went over to the dream(You questioned reality therefore making it a reality check, just to clarify). Also, excellent job on your first and second LD! Pretty cool how your friend helped you fly. Also, welcome to DreamViews!

Thanks boomaster! Good point on the RC, I spose it was a non physical one. I guess I was expecting my usual nose plug RC as that's the one that I used to confirm in my first LD.

Yeah it was pretty cool, but I realise that I need to take it one step a time and get to know the dreamstate before going straight into flying again. I thought rubbing my hands together to stabilize the dreamworld would be enough, I wasn't thinking straight! :p What I can't believe is that I managed to fit a LD and a long vivid dream to follow it in less than 6 hours sleep... Is this normal?

If it was in your last sleep cycles, then most likely. (I'm not 100% on that though.) I learned of non-physical RCs form this tutorial: http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/naiyas...secrets-61802/ It's a GREAT tutorial for DILD and WILD, so I would read it if I were you.

When I became Lucid for the first time, I wanted to do everything at once. I managed to fly and do the mirror teleport. Pretty cool. I flew for like a minute, then blacked out and fell.

      Haha that's awesome boomaster.

Yeah I managed to fly but I think next time I'm gona do some more exploring first! Haha What was the mirror teleporting like? Did you imagine where you'd go before or just end up at a random destination? I know spinning around is another way to generate a new dreamscape at random, which sounds pretty cool to me!

It was weird. When I went through, I didn't feel anything, but I did see the ripples when my hand went through. I used it to teleport to a wanted destination, but had no idea what it looked like, so it was sort of random.
