Had my first glimpse of lucidity! (sort of)

I had a terrifying nightmare, which I didnt need to write in my dream journal cause I can't seem to forget it, -_- but afterwards I had a false awakening! While I thought I was awake I was running around my house doing things to make myself feel safer before I went back to sleep. At one point I started questioning whether I was asleep or awake! Sadly, I ended up waking up almost immediately and can't remember exactly what made me question it....I remember a couple things that could have been it, but mainly I think it was the clock in my room but I only looked at it once and i vividly remember it said 6:28.. However, I don't think this was a failure! It was the first glimpse at a possible lucid dream I've had since I've been training myself, so it was still somewhat of a success in my book! I may end up taking a midday nap after class today, hoping to have this phenomenon again!

      Awesome!! Congratulations!!

I would suggest you go ahead and write it in your DJ though - will you be able to remember it in full detail a year from now? Plus a dream journal serves many purposes - for one it makes you think much more deeply about the dreams - if you just wake up and say "Oh yeah, I remember the dream" then you're not really getting into the details the way you need to in order to write it all down in order. And then of course when you have a week's worth of dreams or so written down you read them and you can begin to spot patterns and trends that you'd never notice otherwise - this is how you find your dream signs. Go through with a highlighter and highlight any things that tend to turn up frequently in your dreams. Another good reason - years from now you might pick up your DJ and start reading and be all like "Oh wow - I had completely forgotten about most of these!!" - it's amazing how spotty memory is unaided - keeping good records of dreams is very important.

      Congrats!

I agree with Darkmatters on suggestion about Dream Journal, whether dream is good or nightmare it would be better to write it to improve dream recall, plus it might help you to actually defeat nightmares in future when you get even better at lucid dreaming!
