Thread: My First Lucid Dream

The first time I had a Lucid Dream I was five years old.

I was dreaming that I was outside at a cousin's farm in upstate New York where my family used to go for summer vacation.

I realized I was dreaming and thought, if this is a dream, I should be able to control things. I had never heard of Lucid Dreaming but decided to see what I could do. I made a tree disappear. Then I made the mountains in the distance disappear, then the house, then the sky, then the ground, until I was just floating, floating in a sea of white.

That's when I woke up. It was one of the most memorable moments of my childhood.

I didn't Lucid Dream again for many years, until I began to do a series of performances (experimental theater and dance) based on dream work, when I began an extensive exploration of Lucid Dreaming and rituals designed to combine my dreaming and waking life (things like repeating actions I did in my dreams when I was awake and vice versa.)
