I have a problem shouting commands in a LD, like \"more clarity!\" and stuff. I either feel too self conscious to scream, thinking I'll be screaming in real life too, or I wake myself up when I do try. It's like I do try to scream in real life, and the mubling I manage through REM paralysis is enough to wake me up! Does anyone have any suggestions for getting around this? I know that shouting the commands will work for me if I could just do it with conviction.
You want to shout, but shouting wakes you up, but you still think that for some reason you need to shout.

Now, what great Wisdom of the Ages has convinced you that you have to bellow like an Ox in order to be listened too? I'm afraid you are the victim of some silly advice. The Subconscious Mind would never encourage anybody into something as undignified and ignoble as shouting.

Once, in the heat of battle, Napoleon Bonaparte got off his horse, strided over to a artillery piece, and, aiming it with his own hand, took out an enemy artillery piece that he suspected of aiming at one of his cavalry elements that was scouting for a flanking action. We was asked why he did not simply shout out a command. The General answered that shouting gives the impression of panic, and in battle it is panic that is the worst enemy. Admiral Nelson had much the same philosophy, and with cannon roaring about him, was careful never to raise his voice or in any way to appear excited. The surest sign of Nobility of Soul is Calmness. And Calmness is not shouting like a madman.

No, your Subconscious, while it still is on your side and cares anything about your spiritual future, will never encourage you with your yelling and screaming in dreams. Why its simply disgraceful behavior. If you have a command, then say it in a deep voice that resonates within your chest, loud and resonate enough to be heard across a room, but still just a speaking voice. That is how nobleman speak.
