Forced Myself to Open Eyes (inconclusive)

I was on a roll, having like5 or 6 different long dreams. My only complaint was that I wasn't lucid in them until the last one. Well in this one, after I was aware I was dreaming I did something at the spur of the moment. I could feel the temperature in my room, I could also feel the covers and feel my surroundings in the real world. I decided I would wake myself up by opening my eyes up. I then opened both my eyes and it was like I was seeing double vision. The image I was seeing was a hybrid of the dream world with the waking.

I felt so dizzy and almost physically sick. But I persevered until finally I regained the real world perspective. I could almost describe this as violent, since I wasn't paralyzed, but unable to make sense out of much.

I have intentionally tried to open my eyes while lucid. I didn't know if I would be able to do that in real life. We have control over our eyes while lucid, but I wasn't sure about the eyelids themselves. In any case, what happened to me was different. It was like i was opening my eyes to a new level of lucidity. It drastically increased the vividness of everything around me, but my eyes were heavy like when you're really tired. It was tough to keep them open in the dream.

On a side note, I did however have something happen that was similar to what you are describing. I was trying to WILD and got caught somewhere in the middle of the transition and noticed that I was dreaming and seeing something, but could also see my pillow as I opened my eyes. I didn't know what to make of it since it only lasted a second or two.

Were you LDing with your dream eyes closed and then opened them, or was it your waking eyes that did this and your vividness increased? What happens with me, if I am dreaming everything is so realistic. But underneath all of that, if I really focus, I will hear and feel part of the waking world. That is when I can either choose to wake up or continue. Only SP is what cause that mix of worlds to appear.
Do you seriously think that blood is the only thing in this world that is colored red?

That first paragraph referred to my dream eyes, not my eyes in real life.

Wow, Genjyo, that sounds totally crazy. Maybe its possible that the waking world half was part of your dream too? Like half of a false awakening? I don't know, seems awkward. Almost sounds like it would make me naucious if I tried it, hehe. Well maybe I'll experiment with it later when I'm having more LDs. For now I'm gonna keep my eyes shut as looooooong as possible.
Its not just smart - its a machine.

It wasn't a pleasant experience, but I'm glad I tested it. I was in the middle of the dream and fully aware of it, then I decided to open my real eyes. The effect was nauseous, one eye saw the dream world, the other saw the waking world. I wasn't able to make sense out of anything until a few moments, when my eyes came into focus and saw the waking world.

The results turned out to be inconclusive solely because of the incoherence.

You didn't go back to sleep or close your eyes afterward did you? Because normally when stuff like that happens, both eyes are seeing the dream world, one of them is just seeing what looks like your bedroom. So you have to stay awake the entire time or else when you wake up it might be a false awakening.

After having a major headache experiencing both visuals simultaneously, I gave my eyes a quick shut to at least calm the overload. Once I opened my eyes I was truly awake.

The uncertainty lies in the time it took me to reopen my eyes. I truly felt my eyes were closed for 2 seconds. Maybe it was far longer.

Everyone is welcome to try it!

One: either you'll see a bizarre hybrid of two worlds
Two: you'll see just the waking, not the dreamlike or vice versa
      Three: something completely different.

I will repeat this experience once again and I urge everyone here to at least give it a shot (i'll take a bullet for you all, but the whole friggin' magazine? ).

That happened to me. It was weird all I could see was my dream but I knew I hadmy eyes open.
beware dreams in them you have have power and you become hungry for more power. you become adicted to your dream and will never wake up

My first lucid experiences were during nightmares as a kid, where all i would try to do was wake my self up, I did it by blinking my eyes fast and hard, and i would open my real eyes and wake up

I had an SP this morning. I wrote in my journal, but decided to write about it here also. After a struggle to get up and only able to lift my head up slightly, I decided to open my "real eyes".

I was able to, but this time I wasn't so sure what was in front of me. My room seemed to be the same. The light peering through the shades was normal. But I noticed red and green tacks on the side of my dresser.

The dizzying effect from the last SP was absent, but I was feeling exhausted from trying to get up.

I calmed down trying to induce an LD. This actually was what woke me up.

This is somewhat related and maybe a follow up.

Today I had a dream I was riding in a hot air balloon when I accidentally fell over the ledge and right into a certain demise. In midair I became lucid, but kept on falling, waiting to see what would happen.

I landed in pond and only made a splash. I wanted to explore my surroundings, but then I heard my alarm clock go off. Before that I was looking at my hands to concentrate and finally I caught it...my dream world literally dissolved into the waking world.

I did not purposefully open my real eyes. It was not dizzying or anything like before.

Ps. I was looking at my actual hands in real life (each finger bent the same as in the dream) as well, moved only two inches to the right, but I suppose this is due to when the worlds changed.
