      Recurring DEILD/WILD Problems

Hey everyone, the purpose of this thread is to gather an idea of how many people out there share a combination of these problems, as well as hopefully getting some insight into how some people have resolved these.
Two of my preferred induction techniques are WILD (tried many variations with success), and DEILD (either through alarms, or just waking naturally). For me, these two usually go hand in hand. I'd say 99% of my DEILDs/WILDs start with me standing up from my dream bed.
The first thing I usually do is stabilize, whether by rubbing my hands, shouting "STABILITY TO ME" or something silly along those lines, sitting down and rubbing the carpet, eating something... etc. Sometimes (I'd say most times) I have no problem stabilizing and continuing on with my dream.
Other times, not so much. I am occasionally faced with many problems, obstructions, "glitches" if you will. These include:

      - Noticing one eye is closed, and when I try to open it, feeling like I'm opening my eyes IRL.
      - Dream being too dark, unable to add brightness -> falling into the void, which in turn usually means the LD ends there
      - Heavy body feeling. Arguably the most annoying one. Sometimes to the point where I fall to the ground and can't get up.
      - Head spinning. This one usually accompanies the heavy body feeling. It almost feels like I'm drunk.
      - Constant FAs. I keep "waking up" in my bed, usually ends up being a false awakening, and it means having to re-stabilize over and over.
      - Lack of physical body - makes stabilizing hard in my experience (but doesn't happen as often for me)

These problems usually present together, and again, I have only had these during WILDs and DEILDs, never during DILDs. I would just like to hear people's input in this. I know some of these are common, but I couldn't find any explanation as to why these happen, how common they are, or an effective way of dealing with these.

I have two theories of why these happen (not exactly based on evidence, just really my gut), these are:
      1) These problems might happen mostly in Non-REM lucid dreams. I remember reading a while ago something about non-REM dreams being shorter, fuzzy, related to not having a dream body, unstable.
      2) The LD "golden rule", expectation is reality. Maybe I'm subconsciously thinking these will happen (e.g. I'm scared this LD will be unstable), leading it to become reality. I'm not too sure on this one though, because I do have many stable DEILDs and WILDs.

Anyways, I hope to hear from others on this topic.

-Imagine being able to see through your closed eyelids.
-Imagine time is passing at an accelerated pace and the sun is rising.
-Imagine your body getting up and walking freely. Try to move your body with your mind rather than your muscles.
-Imagine you were just spinning and you just have to stay still until the dizziness goes away. (During the day, try spinning around real fast before stopping yourself. Observe how the dizzy feeling goes away. During a dream, imagine the dizzy feeling going away in the same manner.) If you fall into a void, imagine a dream scene appearing.
-Try to avoid thinking about your body in bed.
-Imagine what your body feels like. Feel around for your body.

Keep in mind that you don't have to follow the same rules in your dreams as you have to do in waking life. For example, you don't have to open your eyes to see and you don't have to move your muscles to move your body. You can use your mind to do these and anything else in a dream.

Also, since a lot of these have to do with your body, it is likely that your mind is on your body, probably the one in bed. Try to forget about that if you can.

Thanks Dolphin, those solutions make a lot of sense. I have always struggled with not thinking about my waking body; kinda like being asked not to think about a pink elephants, it's the first thing to come to mind.
I never thought about seeing/moving using my mind as opposed to my body, but given the nature of lucid dreams, or dreams for that matter, I see how that would work.
Out of curiosity, have you used all of those at one point or another to deal with similar problems? Do you ever find your dream body (while lucid) so heavy that you're pulled to the ground with everything spinning?

Yes, I've have problems with body heaviness and dizziness as well.

-I've used the first one with success many times.
-I haven't perceived my dark dreams as a being a problem but if I did, I would use the second one. I've had success with changing the time of day in dreams before.
-I have had a heavy body many times in dreams and have used a variation of the third one with success. In the past, I've imagined myself floating in order to float before flying around by using my mind as a remote control, but I think imagining myself walking would work just as well.
-I have had problems with being dizzy in dreams in the past, but I have not thought to come up with a solution for it until now.
-I have not had a problem with too many false awakenings, but To me it would make sense that if I was focusing on my body in bed, I would dream about my body in bed.
-For the sixth one I have done this one with some success. Sometimes I will rub my hands and can feel them but cannot see them. I'm convinced this is a good way though because Sivison seems to allude to the same solution in his Dream Yoga class. (see posts #3 and #8 http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-yoga...esson-1-a.html)

Just wanted to let you know that I've been using your tips! I've made the sun come up in two different LDs using my ocarina; also, last night I had the "eye closed" problem, and instead of opening, I simple decided to look through it. Worked like a charm. Thanks Dolphin!
