      strange creature

dream I had a while ago
I was lucid and I was luciding it up, you know flying around take in the dreamscape n' sh*t. well on my travels I came to this big dessert and I was flying and flying and it seemed to go on forever when all of a sudden two things appeared on the horizon. 1 an edge of the dessert where everything was all of a sudden space and 2 a purple puddle of liquid. I landed in front of the puddle to check it out and to my horror this "thing came out of it" it looked kinda scary but I don't think it was evil. It said to me
      "what...are you doing here?"
      "exploring my dreams" I replied
"yes yes, I know that. But how did you get here?"
      "I flew"
      "Is that so..."
      "yes it is"
"well, you can't come through here, it's off limits"
"this is my dream I can go wherever I like!"
"No,no this will never do, either turn around or I will have to wake you up"
      "...what is over there?"
"that is not for you to know"
"since you won't go back, I shall have to wake you up"
      "but!"
      "goodbye"
and then I woke up. I'm not one to think that dreams are anything but dreams but that was
the wierdest thing that ever happened to me in a dream. what y'all think?

That is so weird. It is as if your mind refused to give you access to some parts of itself. How can that happen?
      Shine on, you crazy diamond!

No reason to assume it's evil. There are plenty of gate-keeper creatures in mytology and yours may well have the best of intentions. Maybe it knows something you don't about what's in there???

I think your mind simply was too tired. You said you were flying through a desert without much things, after all. So the mind was probably just too tired to make more objects appear. The creature - you - simply confirmed it to yourself, that you would wake up if you kept exploring, thus resulting in more efforts for the mind. But you did not stay calm, and combined with the mind's tiredness that caused your awakening.

      That's my thoughts on this.

      that's a good theory
but I am fairly experienced at LDing and it was reallly strange when I came to the dessert...all of a sudden it seemed so much more real than where I was before that, I could see the heat waves I could feel the searing hot sun beating down on me... my LD's are usually really misty or hazy anyway I have yaken some B6 and if it works I hope to try find that place tonight.

Woah, awesome experience. In "The Art of Dreaming" by carlos castenada, he mentions several instances where he finds himself in alternate-dimensions and even inside this kinda spirt things called inorganic beigns. Well all I mean to say is that many of the older indian groups/tribes believed that dreams could be used as portals to other dimensions and universes. They also mention that some portals have "guardians" that can only be conquired if you have a high enough energy level and dream attention(lucidity). To be honest I never truely believed in all this stuff but your experience is one that ties in very closely with some of the accounts in the book. You should look into it.
