&& I was sure Lucid Dreams would be more Vivid...

I've known about lucid dreaming since ..
      hm, probably about October.
Recently, I had what I THINK was my 1st lucid dream

In the dream I suddenly had a vague awareness that I was in a dream
and so, I said, if I'm dreaming a single red rose will appear in front of me
      and it did
I reached out to grab it

      there wasn't much else
I'm not sure if this was actually lucid
because the experience was rather.. shrouded
      it wasn't clear
      my awareness wasn't keen
it was as if I was just acting like a regular dream, being controlled
      it wasn't even vivid

      WAS this a lucid dream?

      I almost hope not
I thought lucid dreams would be more... realistic

That seems like a low level lucidity... so yes that was an LD

Lucid dreams are not that different from regular dreams, except that you know that you are dreaming. You might have an extremely vivid lucid dream one night, and a somewhat foggy one the next.

Don't be discouraged. It sounds like you've won more than half the battle. The more you do it, the more likely you are to have a very vivid LD in which you are very aware -- and once you do, you'll know that it was worth the effort.

Do you keep a dream journal? If not, you should start. This will help improve your dream recall, and will usually lead to having more vivid dreams on a more frequent basis.

ahhh, low level lucidity. that makes sense.
and yes, I do keep a dream journal
      2 actually
one with sloppy words written when I wake up..
and the other is neat, when I put the dream together and interpret it
      this is all recent though
hopefully I'll get more vivid LD's sometime!

I think that's an excellent way to do it. Get it all down before you forget it, then you can refine it later.

my first few lucids were similar...i think a fair number of people's are.

      tygerhawk gives good advice.

the mind is capable of creating dreams which are even more vivid than waking life

keep on writing in your DJ and getting better...it's only up from here 8)

and congrats on your first lucid!

My first lucid was very vivid... for about the 3 seconds it lasted. Then I attempted dream spinning.... and it went all fuzzy.... then I had a false awakening and lost my ludicity

The second dream wasn't as clear, and I got distracted by watching video on my computer and I lost ludicity. On the bright side, the videos I was watching on the computer made it feel like I was REALLY in them.
