The boring answer is that maybe you just lost some lucidity in a recurring dream (which, btw, I've had some recurring dreams where I could literally map out floor plans too.) Or another could be that your deprivation of freedom (since you have control and freedom in your lucid dreams, which, as you say, you've been having for ages) is one of your worst nightmares. But, since none of us like boring answers, we could try to find our own.
Maybe there *is* a place where others experiment on our minds.
Maybe your near-death experience has tapped you into this power of knowing the real truth about things.
Or maybe you keep falling asleep watching "The Matrix" or "Tank Girl" or some other 'us v. them' movie
For whatever the reason may be, one thing is for sure: you aren't comfortable having that as a recurring dream. So, maybe test different lucid options in it. Maybe go along with Their plan, and see what happens. Or have dream-you find out that it was an elaborate hoax created by one of your friends (like that movie "The Game", I think it's called.) Maybe next time, you make it ridiculously over-the-top: instead of a big serious battle, you just stick your tongue out at Them and blast off with your jetpack.
At any rate, this sure made for an interesting read!
Luck and Love,
Christine
