Anyone that has read any of my posts probably noticed that I have 0 dream control in my LDs. Well, my brain fixed that for me. Last night I became lucid while dreaming I was in my car. The landscape tilted and pushed my car off a cliff so I HAD to fly or I was gonna end up in the ocean with my car. I flew! And I sort of "wished" for a place to land and a BEAUTIFUL beach materialized. It was also my second LD in 2 days. I think I'm gonna change my title from Dreamer to Dream Explorer. . . because I feel like I have climbed to the top of some invisible wall. I have taken my last step as a beginner and my first step as an intermediate . . . level. . . person.

Post

Thanks

I find it kind of funny . . . I posted the other day to say I have never had a falling dream, a flying dream, or a naked in public dream, and this lucid was ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Congrats. Flying is cool, especially when you fly to a place that is really coo. I had a similar dream a while ago, and i know the feeling. Hopefully you will simply have more dreams you can control.

I find it impressive that you were not only able to fly but that you did it while already falling, and on your first flight attempt. When I first started to fly I had to really concentrate, take a few steps and try to leap up like superman. Sometime it worked, sometimes it didn't. It is easier for me now, but I still always start from a controlled situation.

About your car falling off the cliff, that reminds me of a dream I had almost 10 years ago, long before I ever thought about recording them, but I never forgot it. I was in a car that drove off a cliff. The dream wasn't lucid. And what I still remember clearly is the thought process of realizing I am just about to die. There was some fear and some curiosity about finding out what happens after death. I woke up before hitting the ground.

I think the reason I was able to do it was because I didn't have a choice. If my car hit the water I would die, but it's a dream so I can't die, so I have to get out of the situation, and the only way to do that is to fly out of the car. I know that doesn't make a lot of sense while awake, but while I was asleep it did. I just knew that I wasn't going to fall into the water because that wasn't an alternative. By taking choice out of the situation I and not doubting my ability to do it for even a second, I was just able to do it. I suppose since I've done it once I'll be able to do it again. Hopefully I don't have to fall off a cliff to do it the next time.

Hey! Just a sugestion: think that you are lighter than air. For me it worked the first time I ever had an LD, so you can try next time.

Happy dreaming!

I'm really happy for you! Try and isolate what happened differently during the day before you slept; maybe if you recreate those conditions you'll have better ld control from now on!

Hey Jimlyn, that's great!!

Flying is something you actually will "learn" as you dream about it more. Everyone has their own method. But really, it's the feeling that you have to remember from previous experiences. I've found that when I find it difficult at first to fly (or levitate), I just lift my arms up a bit as if I'm going to jump off the ground, and "conjure up" that feeling of what I should be feeling. Then, as I start to feel weightless (sort of like when you're taking off or landing in a plane), you get that confidence that you are capable of flight. Then you just take it from there.

I have never had a falling dream, a flying dream, or a naked in public dream, and this lucid was ALL OF THE ABOVE[/b]
Heh, wish I could have seen you in that combo

Nice! Congratulations.
Even though it was a necessity in this particular dream you can use it as a stepping stone to build your confidence for future lucid dreams.
Have fun!

I saw that typo after I posted the message but there's no editing that out. /sigh. . . ah well. . .

Thanks for the support and suggestions guys. I'm really interested to see if my new found control carries over to my next LD.
