      Hi everyone,

I would like to use this thread to share my lucid dreams (recent ones and old ones).

Please feel free to comment. If I don't respond, please don't take offense, as it may mean I have no time to respond or I have forgotten to do so. (or maybe my email notification is not working, or I have no internet access or something). Thank you.

My intention of starting this thread is because I want it to be for the benefit of all. Perhaps someone reading this could learn something to their wholesome benefit.

I originally posted this in another forum (not a dream forum) (this is a recent lucid dream):

Had quite a number of lucid dreams lately...(I had one the night before last night....making it 2 lucid dreams in a row in 2 nights)

      This is the latest (briefly):

I was with my brother (he's younger than me).....we were in a large building....perhaps a shopping centre or hotel....

Then suddenly I realized that this was a dream....

So I told my brother," This is a dream."

To convince him, I tried flying. I ended up levitating instead.

      He had no response.

(I also tried to stabilize my dream by saying "Dream....dream"......Initially I said "Awake.....awake...." but I decided to stop because I could end up waking myself into the waking world).

Then I decided I wanted to go look for Guan Yin to pay my respects.

Then I went to ask some dream characters if they know where Guan Yin is. I asked a number of dream characters. They said they don't know.

Then finally one of them drew a map (which wasn't detailed). It had just 2 points (on some kind of brochure type of paper). 1 point showing my current location, the other point showing where I must go. There's nothing on the map to indicate which is the north direction. One point was north of the other. So I decided to head somewhat north.

So I went into that direction, checked out a number of rooms. But I couldn't find Guan Yin. I had the idea of using a TV to assist me in my search. But I didn't notice any TV either.

Then I went back to this guy and tried to transform him. I wasn't sure what would be a compassionate way to do this (that is, I didn't want to transform him into a terrible object). I think I tried transforming the person (who was sitting down) into a wrathful deity first. But that didn't work. And after that I also felt I shouldn't try to do this. I may not be able to handle seeing the wrathful deity should I actually succeed.

Then I tried transforming the person into a dog (because I wanted to hug a dog). I think I failed. Instead of transforming the guy into a dog, he disappeared instead I think. Anyway, I am not too clear about this part because somehow I knew I was going to wake up from the dream soon. And indeed, I woke up around this time.

Before I continue, I would like to share this for the benefit of everyone. Let it be a guide on how one is to regard dreams.

      Extract:

"Having explained the many significances of Dakpo Rinpoche's dream, Milarepa noted all the auspicious predictions in it for his future.

"However," he said, "although it is very auspicious, and a good omen for the future, you must again learn not to become attached to the dream, or to develop expectations from the dream. Nothing can be so positive that it could not turn negative if we hope or expect."

In the same way, Milarepa advised Dakpo Rinpoche not to take any negative dreams seriously either. All negative or painful dreams are illusions, not real. If we can see them as they are, and avoid becoming attached to their negative meanings, they become positive things for us and enrich us for further development on the spiritual path. "So," Milarepa advised Gampopa, "you must learn to see the negative dreams as illusion and not to take them seriously, nor should you become attached to the meanings of positive dreams; that is the practice of the yogi."

      ------------

Note: Milarepa is one of the greatest Tibetan Tantric Buddhist Masters ever. He is one of the greatest Dream Yogi.

Interesting stuff man, the dream seems like it wasn't too vivid, but the rest of the post really interested me. How long have you been into lucid dreams? It seems like you're at least a reasonably well learned buddhist/yogi from this one post, looking forward too reading more of your posts and opinions/knowledge
      LDs: loads and counting

LD Goal: A fine single malt scotch and a fine cuban cigar (accomplished, but need to do it more)

      Hi Keurslager,

thanks for reading. I am glad you found my post interesting.

Yes, I believe my lucid dreams are not as vivid as compared to some other people's lucid dream experiences.

To answer your question briefly: when I was young (maybe about 10-15 years old or maybe even before that), I had at least 1 lucid dream, and it happened in the days when I had never even heard of the term "lucid dream". In other words, I had a lucid dream when I hadn't known there is actually a name given to it. In those days, the Internet didn't exist yet I think, and lucid dreams were not well-known in Television and Movies (eg: Outer Limits, Vanilla Sky etc).

I started meditating about a year ago and I noticed that I naturally began to have more and more lucid dreams. I never really used any techniques suggested in lucid dream websites and forums.

Recently, I became an officially recognized Buddhist (by taking the refuge vows) and I hope to cultivate myself fully on my spiritual path and development. I hope to be able to use Dream Yoga as an expedient means for my spiritual development, as I think maybe I have some natural ability for it.

I am not an accomplished master, though I hope to be one someday. But thanks for your compliment and I do appreciate it. We are all here to learn and exchange knowledge, so feel free to post what's on your mind and I would appreciate it if you are willing to share your knowledge and personal experience too. I look forward to hearing from you and learning from your knowledge and experience too

Here's another one (originally posted in a Non-Dream Forum) I would like to share for the benefit of all:

This is the other lucid dream I had recently, before the other one described in the most recent previous posting:

I think I was floating or flying above this semi-detached kind of house before I recognized that I was in a dream and then I became lucid (aware that I was dreaming while in the dream state).

I wanted to find out what my current spiritual obstacle is. I decided to go inside the house to investigate, because I was thinking maybe I can find out what my current spiritual obstacle is inside the house.

So I went in the house, did a quick search, but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Then I had this idea of using a TV to help me.

I saw 1 or 2 TVs in this house. So I went up to one of them, and told myself that this TV will show me what my spiritual obstacle is.

I saw 1 spiritual obstacle I think. Then later I saw another 1. When I woke up from this dream (which is later), I can only recall the 2nd spiritual obstacle.

The 2nd image in the TV in my dream is of a humanoid figure (or rather, a statue...looks like made of wood or bronze or something), with the head of a goat (with horns). I think the statue was on a table or something.

Then later I went outside the house. And I noticed a nice small pond with a fish in it. I know that in many of my dreams, a pond with a fish in it would represent my Mind. So I went to have a look, and I tried to find the fish.

At this time I think, I also happened to notice myself holding on to a piece of paper that is blue in colour, but perhaps a bit multi-coloured, and everytime I looked at it, the number on it would change. I knew I could get lottery numbers like this, but I chose to ignore it (partly because I know it is difficult to remember the number when I wake up, and I didn't want to try; I was more interested in the spiritual part of my dream anyway. Just for your information, 1 of the numbers I did remember did come out for toto on that very day itself....thursday draw I think).

I tried to look for the fish, but it wasn't easy to find it. After some searching, I found it. It is a white fish, with bit of pink I think. (White is a significant colour in my dreams; white fishes is also a significant symbol in my dreams). I then touched the white fish in a gentle way.

After this, I woke up from my dream.

Interpretation (brief): My spiritual obstacle could be interpreted as:
      1) Lust or sexual desire (as symbolized by the "horns" on the goat. "horns" implies "horniness"
      2) All the dark and evil parts of my psyche as represented by the goat-head humanoid. A goat-head humaniod is seen as a demon in Christian belief.

Last night I had a lucid dream (it has been some time since I last had one).

      Very briefly:

      Non-lucid part:

I was following this girl. I liked her so I followed her. We went into this high-security area in an office (this is a classified base or secret base or something). I opened this door that leads into a store room of some kind. Immediately some alarm was triggered. Red lights went off and lighted the room. (I guess the store room stores highly classified information).

Then this manager's face appeared at the window. I think he was asking me to get out or something. The manager looked chinese and wears specs. He looks like someone I knew in real life when I was working in PWC audit firm. In real life, he was my rival in love. He is a foreign talent who got Singapore citizenship. ( I no longer harbour any grudge against him in real life)

Then as I was walking out of that room, I noticed a window that leads to the outside. I wanted to climb out of that window, but I got stuck. Then I felt strange. I thought to myself: I shouldn't be stuck, it doesn't make sense for me to get stuck like this. I think I also briefly visualized seeing an orb outside of the window or turning myself into an orb and leave the window or something.

      Lucid part:

Anyway, I finally somehow managed to get out of the window. I was outside now and I was flying. Somehow or other, I became lucid at this point.

I wanted to get some lottery numbers. Saw a few on some tanks, but they were all 3 digits I think.

I was still flying. I was flying fast and had no control over my flight.

I looked around me. Saw strange sights. Basically I saw ruins everywhere. Some statues of greek gods or something (Poseidon?)

Then I tried to transform the objects around me. Failed.

Then I tried to stop myself from flying. I tried to make myself go down onto the ground. I think I shouted that I want to land on the ground. I succeeded.

I landed onto the ground. Saw my feet land onto a beach kind of ground with some nice carpet grass I guess.

Then I tried to change my environment. I tried to change the ruins ahead of me into a snowy landscape or something. Didn't succeed.

But the land ahead of me (which was vast) suddenly began to change. Some large buildings suddenly came out of the ground (sand was flying all around). It was quite shocking. And I woke up at this point.
