01 - November - 0750 // Lucid // High vividity // Medium length // WILD
Title: "My Third WILD - That Goddamned Malfunctioning Dream-PDA!"

I'm standing in my bedroom with my eyes closed. I realise I have my eyes close, and think to myself "Okay, better open my eyes, but be careful: I don't want to open my real eyes, just my dream-eyes. I manage to do so, but I have trouble FULLY opening them. The room is dark, and not very vivid. I can't fix this, though I try. It's also not my bedroom.

There are two beds, both singles, the one on my left (I'm standing away from them) I came from. As I hover forwards (I'm half-walking, half-hovering in this LD) I hear a snore or cough from the other bed to my right. I think this is because in real-life, my flatmate may have coughed or turned over in the bedroom next to mine, and it supplanted itself into my dream. There's a desk to my left, but the room is otherwise empty - I can't see mich of it anyway because the gorram dream's so gorram DARK.

The floor is carpeted, and I notice there's hundreds of little black specks in the carpety, which are either clumps of dirt, or tiny LEGO blocks. Can't work out which. I make my way to the doorway, and put a hand on the wall. I try to stabilise the dream by concentrating, but it doesn't gorram work! I look at the back of my hand, which I can't see because of the darkness of the dream, and I try to concentrate on the texture of the wall. Neither work. I think of yelling out "Vividity 100% NOW!" But I think somehow I get distracted and forget to do this, or chicken out.

And then, I pull out from my pocket:

My handy-dandy Dream-PDA! (Which, by the way, I've never seen before in my entire life, dream or real-life). It's cool. It's black, with a blue-green illuminated screen.

It has shitloads of data and graphs and stuff on, all updated in real-time. There's one meter that says "Dream Vividity 87%" and "Lucidity 45%" and stuff like that. (I'm still mostly lucid BTW. I am wondering where this gorram PDA came from, though)

But then something screwy happens. The screen of the BDA goes glitchy, and the lights start to flicker. Sparks and vibrations, and I realise: It's going to crap out! I'm afraid it'll blow up, so I chuck it to the ground. IT turns off and goes DED. Dee Eee Dee. DED.

And I think to myself: "GORRAM SCREWY DREAM F%&$ING ELECTRONICS! WHY WONT ELECTRONICS WORK IN MY GORRAM GREAM!"

I get reall pissed off at the PDA not working, as I think it could have helped my stabilise the dream (It was the most vivid object in the dream). I think it's this anger that wakes me up.

Sucks about the lack of clarity in the dream. but still - WOOHOO WILD!!!!!

So, I have a few questions: Why was my dream so gorram dark and unclear and "wobbly"? What can I do to stabilise the dream other than what I already tried? Do I just need to "wait it out" and stay in the dream longer than 30 or 40 seconds, and it will stabilise itself? And why didn't my awesome dream-PDA work? GAH! I hate screwy dream-electronics.

i had a wild like that once. it was dark in my room and when i tried to open one of my eyes it wouldnt open. so i just looked through my eyelid. you should have pulled out a lighter or a lantern or somthing. they arent very electronical so they might work. i dont know about the wobbly and unclearness though.

      wow congrats man,
I've been thinking of getting earplugs too to decrease Auditory distractions competely and help me focus better. Well wish me luck. I assume this was after abt. 5 hours of sleep?

Aha! Can I buy one of those PDAs? ^__^ Maybe an upgraded one :3 I think this dark, unclearness is a common feature of WILDs, for whatever reason :S No idea why but hopefully its just random! Nice one

Congrats!!!! I want a dream PDA too!

My last WILD was incredibly dark. I couldn't make it brighten up for any great amt of time no matter how hard I focussed. The odd thing about the dark in my LD was that it seemed as if it were alive or aware and was deliberately effing with me. Some dark aspect of our minds thats trying to overpower our awareness or is it simply flimsy dream control? Maybe both?

Or maybe it's just cuz the room's dark. When I attempt to have a WILD I do it in my dark bedroom. I usually 'wake up' in a dream version of my bedroom which is also dark. If I get outside it's usually daytime. Maybe try getting out of the room next time if you can remember to?

Thanks, Vexie! In all three of my WILDs so far, I've ended up stumbling about in my bedroom. In the first, I managed to get out of the room and into the rest of my house, where it was slightly more bright. I think you may be right, though - perhaps if I just let myself wander in the WILD for the first minute or so, and let myself get out of the house, I'd be sweet. I'll try this in my next WILD, hopefully over the weekend.

If you're not up for the fireworks... just be lazy like me and ghost through the wall to get outside.

Hmmm, I don't think with my experience and nature I could do either. Though certainly confrontational and assertive, I'm not at all violent by nature, and I don't think in a dream I COULD pull out a bazooka. As for ghosting through walls? Cool idea, but unfortunately in my WILDs, walls seem to hate me. They actually move and tilt to try to knock me off balance and make me hit into them. Amé and I both have this sometimes, she calls it "Drunken Walls Syndrome". Walls in my dream are evil, vindictive things, and I'm going to try to stay away from them. I'll try jumping or flying, though, I seem to have no trouble with those in dreams. Fly through the ceiling or something.
