I moved from one dream to the next and in the latter, I realized I was dreaming.

I was in my bed and looking into the bathroom. The shower curtain was moving and I thought there was a dog behind it or something. Somehow I was rather scared, so I decided to make the "dog" change forms (even though I hadn't seen it) so I thought of my dad and screamed it out. Then the courtain stopped moving and a man came from it and I couldn't see his face because it was blurry. Then I woke up.

I knew I would have a scary LD, because...I don't know it just overwhelms me.
When I'm at the pearly gates, this'll be on my videotape. Mephistopheles is just beneath, and he's reaching up to grab me. This is one for the good days, and I have it all here in red, blue, green... You are my center when I spin away, out of control on videotape. This is my way of saying goodbye because I can't do it face to face, I'm talking to you before... No matter what happens now I shouldn't be afraid because i know today has been the most perfect day I've ever seen.

That happens to me a lot.... going from one dream to another and realizing I'm dreaming in the second one... I think maybe a sudden change of scenery sparks my "am I dreaming" response.... but I always wake up right after....

Ld'ing overwhelms me too, but I wake up instead.

But it something that can be worked on, as I found out last night..

Its really useful and cool for that to happen and you seemed to have a lot of control over it too as you managed to change the appearence of the "dog."

I am also afraid of having a scary LD. Dreams can really f**k people up bad. I'm also kinda creeped out by this 'hag' everyone keeps talking about.

A: There's no more chance of having a scary LD than having a scary regular dream. In fact, there's really less chance, because once you realize you are dreaming you should also realize that nothing can hurt you. Not sure what you mean by"Dreams can really f**k people up bad" -- they really can't; they're just dreams.

B: It's all about confidence and expectations. If you are afraid something scary will happen in your dream, then it probably will. If you are confident that you are in control and that only good things will happen, you'll be fine.

C: "Old hag" is basically just Sleep Paralysis that occurs when you're not quite asleep yet. I'm not going to go into a detailed explanation here (you can find that anywhere, including DV -- just search for it), but it is a perfectly normal occurance, and again, completely harmless.

Yup it's always better to keep it positive. I agree with TygrHawk nothing in the dream can ever harm you on any level. Keep the mind positive because you can easily manifest thoughts to the dream. One thing is for sure I never heard of someone being messed up from a Lucid Dream. I've had tons of Lucid Dreams since I was a kid and some may have been a little scary but it's not all that scary when you understand the scenerio based upon that LD. Keep in mind a lot of times the Subconcious tries to continue the control over the dream content while you are LDing, and sometimes the information we see from it within our concious mind is distorted and incomprehenisble so it comes across absurbed but nothing to ever be afraid of. It's just illogical by what we base our reality on during our waking life.

I see what you mean in the first sentence. But I'm not afraid of being hurt physically, I'm afraid of seeing something horrifying - something that only I would find horrifying. That's what I mean by dreams messing people up. It's almost like going crazy when I have bad dreams, lucid or not. I get paranoid and I become afraid to be alone.

Oh, yes, I knew that, but I meant how some people are unlucky enough to hallucinate the old hag actually sitting on them. x3 I hope it doesn't happen to me because of the placebo effect.

Yeah, that's really the only thing that creeps me out. The 'absurd' stuff. I know I can't recieve any actual, lasting physical harm from dreams, it's just the weird, surreal stuff I can't stand. It just weirds me out. xP

oh man..dont be afraid! freaky stuff happens a lot in lucid dreams, and your right. Its not a fear of getting hurt in a lucid dream is it? Its a fear of freaky and down right evil and nasty! When you are afraid and lucid, your control is going to SUCK. And transforming a freakish situation into a happy one will not always work, making the lucid dreamer even more afraid of the dream and in even less control. I should know, its happened to me.

So what do you do when you are Lucid but cant transform the situation becuase of your nerves? There are easier ways to get back in control of your dream without actually trying to manipulate the dream. GET OUT is the first thing you can do. Storm out the front door and tell the dream to piss off! And just walk down the dream neighborhood looking foward to a new happier adventure. Don't look back and dont think at all about the freaky thing you left behind, forget it completely. FLY OUT. Fly high up into the sky above the clouds, and tell yourself a new dream is waiting for you below them. Becareful however not to run away from what ever it is that scares you, as that shows fear and keeps the dream in control. Getting out is more like flipping the bird and telling the dream to piss off

I was having a reptitive nightmare where all the lights of my house would go out. I would try to calmly turn them back on, but it would never work. Then I would panick and curl up into a fetal position as some shadowy figure comes for me. It was shit freaky! Id wake up nearly in tears. But I was never lucid in those nightmares. But one time I became lucid and suddenly had a flash back of all the other nightmares showing me what was going to happen. And being lucid made me understand what this nightmare was all about - the supernatural in control of my electrical appliances apparently. So I left the damn house and flew out into a forest with only natural lighting, since that was what the dream was about - there would be no freaky supernatural elements in the forest to be afraid of. And the forest was peaceful and it felt refreshingly safe!

Playing along with the dream can sometimes be easier and create exciting results in a similiar nightmare where I was with several dream characters, we solved the demon-light situation easily by lighting candles and roasting marshmellows. It was fun and yummy!

so, yeah, freaky stuff can still happen but you can still transform the situation without actually needing a lot of dream control. and when you wake up you might even find the dream hilarious instead of freaky
