I became lucid for the second time in my life last night. The weird thing was it was not by using any of the techniques I have read about it just kinda happened. I did some breathing exercises and as I was falling asleep I just kept saying "I am falling into a dream..." over and over again. I then apparently fell asleep and I had a false awakening which I realised was a false awakening after I had done a nose pinch RC. I found it very hard to move however and I didn't really have much control. I managed to get out of bed and walk around my small room, and I found my guitar which is normally never in my room and for some reason I placed that on my bed. I then must have lost lucidity but I regained it and ended up back in bed, I got out again and then noticed that for no reason a chair from the old dining room set was in my room which I kind of said "hey, that's cool that wasn't there before, it is there for no reason other than the fact that I am dreaming". I then decided to see if my guitar was still back on my bed, I couldn't really see much but I kind of groped around until I hit something wooden and heard the hollow sound of a guitar when it is hit, one of the strings must also have been hit. Anyway after I realised my guitar was still back on my bed I lost lucidity and woke up. Oh well, it was still kind of cool.

Weird thing though, I went to bed around 12:10 and when I had woken up after the dream it was 12:47. This does not make sense seeing as I would not have been in stage 5 sleep after only approximately a half hour of sleep, I would have been in stage 3, tops. Is there some reason why I skipped straight ahead to REM sleep? I had been sleeping a lot that day because I was enormously hung over from the previous night. Here is my sleep schedule for the day if it helps with my question.

      The night before: 11:00PM - 8:00 AM (9 hours)
      That day: 4:00PM - 7:00 PM (3 hours)
      That night: 12:00AM - 8:00 AM (8 Hours)

This suggests that I wouldn't have had any particular shortage of REM sleep lately so my question is, why did I proceed to a REM state in only one half hour? Any comments would be appreciated.

      If I could find you
And tell you about my life
      Or maybe just write
And remind you of when we would dream...

Same thing happened to me once. I had a lucid dream (a really weak one though) after falling asleep around 12:00 am. I lost control and awoke shortly after the dream started, but it felt like I had been sleeping for hours. I look at my alarm clock, and only 25 minutes had passed! I wonder how this is possible...

Could have been a WILD. That's normally how mine go.
