Well sorry I haven't been around in a while but stuff is stuff and it's been keeping me busy.

I've not given up my lucid dreaming and have come to report something quite extraordinarily spectacular to me. I've created myself a "Dream Asylum"... a library of dreams in my mind. It started off as a simple non-lucid dream. I went in and there were shelves full of binders of dreams to choose from. From erotica to adventure... a-z.

I chose mine and brought it up to a cashier there... within this magnificent dome of magenta and roman columns. He told me to wait for a half hour so my REM cycle would be ready or something of the like. At that point I'd realised I was dreaming and decided to play along. So I walked around reading dreams until my time was up and then used my ticket to step into my dream through a wonderfully coloured portal.

It was incredible. I didn't need spend the effort of creating it through will. What I wanted was there!

I've been maintaining my asylum and adding constant dreams and living through them. It's my own little centre of knowledge in my mind.

I suggest you get one too!

I've had that other stuff keeping me busy problem too, except for the other stuff keeping me busy part. Maybe I've just been lazy in my posting here for the last month+.

Back on topic, how would I create this dream asylum in mind mind?, as I would love to have a library of dreams to choose from - it seems like a great way to attain lucidity. I would love to have that, but I can't really figure out anything except pray my mind creates it for me. Any ideas?

Well... for one I think to purposely create it you need to become lucid. I have the feeling it's extremely difficult to build one from scratch... but create it as would you any other object in a lucid dream. Imagination.

Maybe instead of wanting it all to be there at once you could do it step by step. Imagine the construction workers first, in example. Imagine how they create it.

Make it to your own liking and refine it!

I like that idea. I am all for the step-by-step approach, as otherwise I know I will overwhelm myself and wake up. Now that I have february vacation and a chance to devote real time to getting Lucid, I will have a chance to do it. I can honestly say that this is one of the better LD ideas I've seen in a while.

Wow, this sounds great. You could also keep all your challenges in a book in there aswell! Do you think that if you made yourself come here everytime you were lucid and said I will be here whenever I start dreaming, then do you think you would dream of yourself in this place everytime, making it obvious you are dreaming. You could then LD every night!

Wait, is this a library of all the dreams you have had and you can go back by reading the books!? Please clear me up.

Yes I suppose that's a definite possibility, tommo. I should begin to try that.

To clarify, my asylum has two sections: one of past dreams and one of new dreams. The past ones are old experiences I've had in my dreams and sleep which are recorded there. The new dreams are like films you can choose; new experiences to live through. I had one which was a Macbeth scenario where I played the king himself in the dream and bent the story to my will. They are all subcategorized and I can also create new experiences to store there.

I've actually thought to try this, to dig up and sort my dreams into an special inner storage area.

Haven't gotten around to trying it yet, but I did have a lucid dream where I decided that a big old fashioned glitzy movie theater was an archive of all my memories. I want to get back to that and snoop through the films and watch some of my memories on the silver screen.

If I can find them, I'd love to rewatch my dreams and perhaps set them aside in their own special section of the theater if they're not already categorized in such a manner. I'd organize mine into regular dreams and lucid dreams. Never thought to try past and future dreams though. That's a really great idea.

anyway, i might try this. i haven't been able to figure out a good way to have the kinda dreams i want. i don't think i have the will power to summon the things i want, so this is a good idea.

Do you think this would take up alot of your brainpower? remembering all the dreams you've ever had etc.

The brain has a lot of storage space. Obviously I can't remember every single one... and the obscurity of my mind places dreams in the asylum that I've never dreamt... but it's a fun idea to toy with and I'm enjoying it immensely. It hasn't tired my mind out so far, but of course I'll be careful with it.

I don't think so. Once you have a dream recalled, you just have to read or see a snippet, and it pops right back into memory. Your mind has plenty of space, and is smart enough to deal with it. If it got too much, your mind would just erase dreams, but I don't think that would happen, as all this is is one big list of possibilities already existing in Chainsaw Kitten's imagination, and the whole asylum thing is just a cool front to access it.

Wow, a dream asylum... I definately want one of those, the hard part though is getting to the Asylum the first time [since it's more than likely that I'll have to be lucid to remember this and make one].

It is easier to recall though since your brain tends to repeat locations of dreams in non-lucids and I'm sure once you've summoned up a Dream Asylum, you'll never forget how to again and it'll become easier each time.

Lucky you, a free dream asylum all to yourself.
