Magic Carpet is worth a shot. You could have a dream character fly for you and just catch a ride. Ultimately, you can fly though. But until you believe you can fly, you won't be able to. |

Neruo: "Expect for me ofcourse, I am special. lol. I really think that. I am rather intelligent"
Why not try to make attachable wings, they work like normal wings [look, feel, etc.] but they attach on like a parachute bag [did I spell that right?], parachute bag's seem pretty secure and wings do cause flight. |
|
Or you could just fly? Remember it's just a dream! To ensure yourself do as many RC's in your dream you think is required! I did it and I flew in my first LD! |

Practice levitating. Concentrate on letting your body float off the ground. Soon you be flying no problem. Don't worry about falling either. Landing doesn't hurt and plummeting through the sky was one of my nost enjoyable lucid experiences. |
|
LOL, Just believe you can fly, because you can. And don't fear anything in a dream cuz, well its a dream- no pain!. Yeah so add this on your list--- Flying Nimbus from Dragon Ball Z. Its a cloud thingy that you hop onto. Youtube it!. |

You don't have to worry about saftey. If you're really that afraid, close your eyes if you start falling |

YES! You CAN fly! |
|
First thing is BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN FLY. This is vital. If you don't believe you can do it, then you can't. The magic carpet or broom ideas are also great. What I am surprised no one has said yet, but I reccommend is to jump off something very high (skyscraper, mountain, waterfall (I've done that one), etc.). There is nothing that will encorage your inner bird more than the fear of a 1000 foot drop |

LD'd last night and did the flying business again because I have trouble with it sometimes as well. My problem is that I don't believe it will work, or that some extra energy is needed to keep the flight going. I was focusing hard as hell on staying in the air, sort of tensing up all over, and it wasn't working. Instead of making it a task or whatever, I told myself that it was effortless, and relaxed, and guess what? Instant altitude! I still kept losing my touch here and there, but I reminded myself repeatedly that it was easier than I thought, "There's no reason for it not to be", and the less I thought about flying, the more flying I did |

We who are about to dream, salute you!
As people have said - anything is possible - in theory. The reality depends on your belief system. Flying and control generally gets better with practice. But regarding belief systems - if you've mastered Magneto's powers how about using them to fly? In the movies he floats on disks of mercury (or something) - but rather more impressively, used the Golden Gate Bridge as his 'magic carpet'. |

When I say 'I see!' - I've opened not my eyes, but my mouth.
I kind of have a fear of heights. I've never really liked roller coasters, or anything like that. That's probably why I'm not able to fly yet, since it isn't just a normal activity for me. |

That is very possible. Some things to try would be climbing on ridiculously high things and because you're in a dream knowing it's not dangerous. Also, there is a tehcniuqe called EFT which supposedly can erase any fear by tapping energy points and getting to the root of it. I don't know if it actually works, but if you go to the site emofree.com, you can get a free ebook that teaches you how to do it, and though they do try to sell you their instructional videos, you can learn everything from the book. chevalier_violet claims that it has helped him a lot (he's not affiliated with them or something, and never bought the videos, so he wasn't trying to sell me stuff). This EFT technique can also supposedly help get you lucid when used correctly, but I couldn't figure out how to get lucid with it. |

Well I have something half silly but quite true to add to this conversation. I've always had difficulty with the flying thing. Half the time I can and the other half I face plant into the ground. I have learned by trial and error that for some reason or other I can only fly to exactly the spot my eyes are focused upon. This is both convenient and a nuisance. It makes flying to get where you want to go rather easy. But flying just for the hell of it is really difficult like that. Of course it is only as such because I've "learned" (read: taught myself to believe) that is how I must fly. At any rate it's better than faceplanting the ground. The point here being you have to find something that works for you. All the people in the world could tell you how, and it still might not work. I asked this question once too, if I recall. And that is the true answer. |

Well, sometimes I have trouble flying too. Try jumping around a whole lot. You might feel like a kangaroo, but for me I kept jumping higher until I flew. Also I say jump off something high; that also worked for me. Good Luck!! |

Lucid Tasks: 14
first lucid i had...right when i found out I was dreaming first thing i did was run and jump off the stairs and hey...it worked. |
|
The first LD I had, I had the same problem, it went to 3rd person and I saw myself jumping around my yard, and I thought to myself, "Man, I look like an idiot." So, I like summoned a witch (Kind of like the one from Wizard of Oz) and took her broom, and went on my merry way flying threw my neighborhood... |

I know other people have mentioned both tall buildings and dragonball but, when I used to have trouble flying in my LDs, I always brought up this tall tower from dragonball where Piccolo resided. I know it sounds silly, but I did grow up in Asia until I was 6 years old so it was all I watched. After raising this building, I would jump off it and just start flying like a madman. |
|
ok, dood who started this, you can fly, and like alot of people who have posted already, you just have to believe. no, better yet, know you can fly. just think, you are in an environment completely created by your mind, where you have created the rules of the world. you are god in your dreams, and the only limitations you have are the ones you put there yourself. |

The evening hangs beneath the moon, a silver thread on darkened dune.
With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.
Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,
I cannot sleep , my mids aflight;
and yet my limbs seems made of lead. ---Whitacre's Sleep---
I flew in my first LD. What i did was i jumped off a building and pictured myself in the matrix. It's like you have to know you can do it. Ever since that time i learned that lucid dreaming is like "the matrix" and i've always been able to do anything, in my 4 LD's ive had anyways =P. |
