      First SP and WILD

Last night, well-this morning, I had my first WILD. I woke up at about 5 PM and immediately attempted a WILD. Almost instantly, I entered SP. My vision became strange, like a kaleidescope of purple and green and orange. I heard strange, muffled noisese, and felt this icy chill through my body. I was so scared that I snapped out of it. I tried again, but then I woke up and looked at my clock, which said '5:15' and just figured it didn't work. I got up, yawned, and went to go use the bathroom. My vision was really hazy, which I thought was just me being tired, then I thought 'what if I'm dreaming?' I looked down at my hands, and only had 3 fingers on each. I tried to leave, but couldn't because I couldn't get a good grasp on the door handle. Finally, I just walked through the door.

In my living room, my friend Phil was sitting on the couch. This was our conversation:

      Phil: Hey
      Me: Hey Phil
      Phil: Whacha doing?
      Me: Dreaming.
      Phil: Huh?
Me: Ya, this is a dream.
      Phil: Really!?
Me: Yup, a lucid dream. (I explained to him what they were)
Phil: That is so cool! I wish I could have a lucid dream!

Then our conversation ended, and I looked up at the lights, wanting to test out what I could do. I said 'dim', and the light dimmed. I then looked at the light above the kitchen table and said 'dim', and it dimmed. Suddenly, a thought came to me. I wanted to try flying. So I went out on the back porch and tried to fly. I couldn't. I got frustrated and started to wake up, but then tried dream spinning, and imagined a scene I wanted to go to. The dream spinning worked, but I was unable to change the scene. Finally, frustrated, I settled for just making the sun rise (it was still too early for there to be light), then woke up.

This is the first LD I have had where I could actually move. In most of mine, I am completely frozen once I realize I am dreaming. This is also the first LD I have had where I can control ANYTHING, and where there are other people. In my previous LDs, as soon as I become lucid, everyone disapears.

This is also my first WILD, while my other LDs were DILDs. is there some sort of connection there? Do WILDs create more vivid, interactive LDs?

to Dreamviews, and congratulations on the WILD!
WILDs are usually better, more vivid, better control, etc. Probably because you've been lucid since the beginning of the dream.

Thanks! I am really excited about it. And yes, with the WILD it did seem more vivid and I had better control.

Congrats on your first WILD! Excellent! The Holy Grail of lucid dreaming. I just had my first WILD about two hours ago.
It was incredible...I laid down this afternoon just to rest my bones a bit....had a short LD..woke up...then I thought, "Why don't I try to WILD?" No planning at all...I decided to just "shoot straight through", so to speak...It worked! I felt a huge vibration sensation, followed by what felt like being painlessly shocked by lightning. I know that sounds strange..It was a powerful feeling....I knew then that I was paralyzedI then let myself sort of "fall down through my bed". I tried not to get too excited or let myself lose focus...And then, I was there! And KNEW I had been awake five minutes earlier. Incredible!

A WILD is a wake induced lucid dream. It involves staying conscious during the transition from being awake to dreaming. It's generally considered to be a hard technique to master, but WILDs tend to be quality LDs. There's plenty of WILD threads and tutorials around if you're interested!
