      An Epic Task

Take a minute to look at this list.

Sure, its all good and fun to read about doing all these "incredible" things in lucid dreams.
But could anyone ever really do them all?

A more feasible question: could a group of people ever do them all?

      ____________________

Those were the two questions I found myself asking when writing that thread.
How about me and you answer them?

      What I'm suggesting:

Individual members will do whichever tasks they want.
When they complete any task in a lucid dream, they will make a post in this thread that only contains a dreamjournal-esque experience report of said dream (don't talk about any other entries in that post).
Every time someone completes a task, I'll PM a mod to edit the original list, in this format:

      (example):
      143 ~ Jump off a building

      144 ~ Eat a golf ball

145 ~ Learn to breathe underwater
Thats how it looks now, once a person posts in this thread with their experience I'll put a small link to that persons experience beside the task.
So, if I were the one that completed the task of eating a golf ball, it would look like this:
      143 ~ Jump off a building

      144 ~ Eat a golf ball -- (billy)

145 ~ Learn to breathe underwater
(the link will go directly to your post in this thread)

      Why do this?
For one, it'll give you and I inspiration to try and do bigger and better things in our lucid dreams. Secondly, it'll show people that haven't lucid dreamed yet just how possible and incredible having them can be.

      Lets do this everyone.
post in this thread both to talk about others experiences/ what your planning to do, and also post in here when you actually complete something.

      Have fun with it!

<--This post here for use later-->

Just to clarify. Yes, more than one person can do the same task, if that happens I'll just put two links beside it instead of one

Also, feel free to post any failures you have in this topic as well
      This should get pretty interesting...

      27 ~ summoning a dream guide

A couple days ago... Previous to this post... but i tried it purposely after viewing the task list.
(DILD) I'm walking down the road and I look at some trees... They look slightly off so I do a reality Check ... My thumb goes through my hand and i'm dreaming! I say to myself show me my dream guide and suddenly this tall native American man with traditional (possibly stereotypical) clothing on walks out of the forest. "hello i'm your dream guide" he said in a deep voice.. (after this point my memory is a bit unclear) I walked with him up the street and he was explaining to me that we have 2 lives, one in the dream world one in the waking world. He sounded pretty much like the guy from the Lakota commercials. We turned onto the next street and the scene started to go fuzzy during his speech. As this happened my lucidity started to fade. Soon after i became non-lucid I had a strange dream about rounding up chickens....

      Very nice
Although: Lets try to get very detailed in these.

What happened in between him saying "hello" and you losing lucidity?
Try to be as detailed as possible when it comes to the part of the LDs about the tasks.

Of course, thats just a recommendation, you can write it however you want

Another thing: Due to editing restrictions, I'm going to wait until about five experiences get posted, then I'll pm a mod to edit it. (then every time five more get posted I'll pm a mod again, and so forth)

Wow, what a terrific idea!! Really sucks that you can't edit the post yourself though.

If this were to ever be completed, or at least the majority of the tasks done, would it be possible to post this in the tutorials section for easier access to people?

Well I just sent an edited version of the task list that has about 100 more things to do to a mod.

I'm gonna keep updating it until we have 500.
I doubt we have to worry about it getting filled up with experiences, at least not for a very long time

Its not that bad not being able to edit. Just hope the mods patience with me doesn't die too soon

I like this idea. I'm always motivated by things like this.

Now this is for future dreams only, or would past LD's count as long as it was a preset goal?

I was hoping that only future dreams would be posted.
But then, its ok if you post old ones too I guess (there's gonna be 500 tasks).

By the way, I'm doing task 69 tonight: kill Barney
      Wish me luck

(also, feel free to post any failures you guys have. Should be pretty interesting to read about them)

About 62, I have had cartoon dreams before, so it shouldn't be an issue. And also, would telepathy count as reading a DCs mind, because I have an epic(ish) Lucid where I only used telepathy to communicate with a DC.

You know, upon thinking about it a bit more I've decided to only accept dreams where you were predetermined to do the task you did.

In other words, if I were to have had a lucid a long time ago where I committed suicide on accident, that wouldn't qualify as the task of committing suicide.

I think if we do it like that the entries will be a lot more interesting to read.

Yes, telepathy is reading another persons mind.

Nice system, I must say. You may want to cap how many people can do each task though. otherwise you'll get huge lists (unless thats what you want) and no diversity. Also a cap of how many a single person can do.

      I'd suggest a cap of 5-10

I still want to do this. I have been so busy lately that I have had terrible recall..and no LD since I saw this thread. Anyway, I hate to see this thread get lost.

I made a list of my top favorite 30 or so tasks from this list, and that's what I will focus on getting done. Although on any given night where I really try hard to LD, I will go to bed focusing on only two to three tasks so I don't get overwhelmed and forget them all. I think that's why I remember to do the Advanced and Basic Tasks on this site--becuase I go to bed totally focusing on doing those when I become lucid.

i only have 2 lucid dreams under my belt but i want to be part of this. so ill commit myself to task #148 kill a dragon.

i was just looking through the list to see a mission that caught my eye. this one did. i just had the vision of wearing a suit of armor and holding back the flames with my shield. feeling the heat and then charge at him with a sword...and maybe with the help of a few other brave DCs. It’s a classic dream scenario.

so i will try my hardest to complete that. since im pretty new i probably wont be the first to complete it. but its a good motivation to keep going

26 ~ walking through a mirror to the other side

I did this a couple days ago. It was really awkward. I realized I was dreaming after seeing something odd (I don't remember what) so I did an RC to test if i was dreaming. I looked at my watch and the numbers were cahnging really fast and so now I knew I was in a dream so I went into my house and I remembered reading about going through mirrirs so I went into the bathroom, climbed up onto the counter and put my face up to the mirror trying to push it through, it took a couple tries but eventually I was able to slowly push my body into the mirror I went all the way through and I was in my bathroom but there was no door and everything was backwards it was really strange then I climbed back out and continued on with my dream (most of which involved me going through windows just because i can:p)

      Very nice

Thats weird: "it was all backwards", must have been a bit trippy

Just to make sure everyone knows:
You can be as detailed as you want when writing these. Indeed, it would be pretty damn awesome if you included every singly minute detail, because then we would be able to experience what you experienced.

For example, it would be perfectly ok to write out a 2000 word explanation of how you stepped into a pool of molten chocolate.
The more details you write, the more its going to make others want to experience what you experienced

      83. Breathing underwater

(This is just the ending of a much longer LD in which I did quite a few tasks.)

I took off flying again. I flew outside. I was on the roof of a three story apartment building.

I remember thinking about how I had been talking about how cool it was to just fall backward off things...so I decided to do it again. As I stood at the edge about to fall, I thought, "Now am I really sure I'm dreaming. If I'm not, this will be fatal."

But I was already falling backwards. I didn't fall to the ground level, but just to a balcony on the floor below. I actually landed on a soft couch. I stood up again and was planning to fall backwards again, but I saw a pool down below. I remembered how I had wanted to do a Water Task. This wasn't the ocean, but a pool could be good practice for future water Tasks.

So I dived off the balcony and went straight in the water of the pool. I worked myself to the botton. I started to breath. It was a very strange feeling. It wasn't like I had remembered before when I was breathing underwater just like it was air.

I could kind of feel the unpleasant feeling of water trying to come in through my nose. I had to block my nose breathing off. When I breathed through my mouth it felt like there were bubble appearing right in front of my mouth that I was able to suck in. It made a little bubbly noise as I did so. But it worked, I was able to breathe. And it seemed significant to me that I would be able to breathe like this indefinitely.

I looked around again to see if there was anything interesting at the bottom of the pool. I saw a guy and a dog also laying at the bottom.

I decided to try the Pet Task again with the dog. I started talking to it and asked it to talk to me. But suddenly the guy that was with the dog got mad at me. He said, " He's underwater! And you want him to talk!" --as if it would kill the dog for it to talk underwater. Of course this guy was talking underwater and it wasn't killing him.

I was trying to decide if I was going to debate this with the guy, but then I could feel myself losing the dream. Then I was awake.
