      fear returned... not real.

      this is upseting me... I decided to FILD last night and when I finally got lucid I stood up and the fear returned from my first LD... the one where I seen my mom killed my dad and tried to kill me. Knowing that yea you have all the dream power but its scary knowing nothing can protect you... Idk anyone exp. this? tips?

      I didn't have a lucid dream yet but you shouldn't worry about someone or something hurting or killing you. I always think to myself that having a lucid dream would be scary because it seems so real. I tell myself that nothing could hurt you even though you feel that way. You don't have anything to worry about.

      lonestarx, you're thinking that nothing can "protect" you.. you need to believe that nothing can "harm" you.

      The following mantra helps me to feel powerful.

      Before each WILD attempt, I mentally repeat the following protection mantra: "My mind, my body, my soul and my spirit are protected by pure white light. May only those of pure white light come near me, may only those of pure white light touch me."

      I know exactly what you mean, it can be very hard to get rid of the fear sometimes, some nights the feeling of power simply does not come, and you really have to force it to get in the right frame of mind.

      Mantras, or repeated phrases are the best way to get your 'power' and confidence back.
      Try to find a phrase which works for you, or try to remember what it felt like when you were powerful in a dream, soon you will feel much better.
