      My first lucid dream!

After about a month of dream recalling and reading stuff on lucid dreaming, I had my first LD just a while ago (around 11 AM, after WBTB - before going back to bed I was really motivated and used auto-suggestions to not forget to do a RC) .

It was a false awakening where I'm writing down my dreams like I usually do, but this time I do a reality check by pinching my nose. I can breathe!! I'm sooo happy. I do a RC a couple of times and it confirms that I'm dreaming, so I start flapping my arms so that I can fly. When that doesn't work, I start jumping on my bed so it might help in lifting off. That doesn't work either. Then I wake up. I'm really happy since this is my very first LD, but next time if my dreams aren't false awakenings then it would be harder for me to do a RC

      I'm wondering why I can't fly?

      Congratulations on your lucid dream!

Amethyst Star wrote an excellent tutorial on different ways of achieving dream flight. You might want to try reading that.

Thanks for the link to the tutorial Next time I'll start with floating.

Someone I know told me that the reason why I couldn't fly is because I thought it was something extraordinary. My mind has to think that it is something normal in order to fly.

That's true - if you believe that you can't do something in a dream, it's much harder or impossible to do that thing. Dream control is all about believing in yourself and your ability to control the dream.
