      First WBTB attempt: Success!

So... I heard of the WBTB technique for LDing. Many people say it is their favorite technique and have had 50-100% success rate.

I went to bed around midnight, woke up at 5 AM, came here. Read up on other people's lucid dreams. I went out into my living room and looked out the large glass windows. It was getting light outside. I performed a few reality checks while sitting on the chair next to the window with my eyes closed thinking "I will have a lucid dream when I go back to sleep." Time came to go back to sleep. It was pretty light out. It was hard to concentrate so early in the morning. I drifted in and out, with some non-lucid dreams. Woke back up around 6:30, determined to have a LD. Concentrate, Nick. (Yes... that's my name. Big woop.) Finally... it pays off.

The dream starts in a Wal-Mart type place. I run outside and realize I am dreaming. I jump into the air and go about 15 feet in the air. I notice many fast food places on the road. The one that stood out was Sonic. It stood out because I don't have any Sonic restuarants anywhere near me. (I love Sonic. I had it when I went to North Carolina.) I could read the sign very well. I thought that was wierd because usually I can't read anything in my dreams. The clarity was spectacular. Looked like real-life. I kept rising up into the air. I couldn't stop it. When I had gotten so high up to the point that it was scary, I woke up.

I was dissappointed that my LD was about seeing fast food joints. I remembered false awakenings. Could this be one? I tried to levitate off my bed. It worked! I was still dreaming. I slammed open the bedroom door, not caring if I woke anyone up because it was a dream. I flew down the hallway to the front door. I decided to float through the door to the outside. As I ran to the door, I had a second thought about it. If it wasn't a dream, that could really hurt. Too late. I was already half in and out now. but my waist got stuck. So I focused and finally I was outside. This part is pretty wierd. I go down to the driveway and notice a bunch of trucks in the garage and more pulling into the driveway. Maybe they were robbing my house? I remember that it is only a dream and try to fly away after yelling some random expletives to the robbers. Can't... get... high enough. I land back on the road and start running as another truck tries to ram into me. I think by now it is a normal dream... and a dream that is over.

I think that maybe this was caused by my paranoia. I don't like having this happen in my LDs. Is there any way to stop things like this from happening?

Edit: For some reason, I woke up with a wicked headache. I NEVER get headaches in the morning.
I'm not going to make a signature... oh, wait....

      Hey how are ya skittles

Are you experienced with Lucid Dreaming and the likes or sort of new still?
If you are it may just be a self belief issue which will all be overcome with trial/error and practice. From your dream that sounded good to me, i mean isn't it good to overcome a few hurdles in an LD.

Lok foward to your next one. X

      n00bs i love you

Well... I have been interested in them for a while now. I have a few books and stuff. My interest in them turns on and off. I will just have to practice.

Congrats on your lucid. Maybe the headache was a side effect of trying too hard to control you dream? Anyway it'll only get easier from now on.

I tried it this morning but it didn't work. I know why though.. I only woke up after 4 hours and then stayed up for an hour, which wasn't enough because the second my head touched the pillow, I felt like I hadn't stayed up at all! lol Ah well, I'll do it right next time.

Congrats on your first time skittles

my turn now! I wish I had more time before school but I don't =[ (less than 2 hours) I guess that makes me a little more determined.

anyway hopefully I will get a taste of glory this morning. wish me luck.

I was too anxious and was strapped for time so I didn't even manage to get to sleep. I did feel some very early stages of WILD while trying to fall asleep though. I was so confident I really couldn't stop MILDing and occasionally I'd hear other people waking up in the house = if at first you don't succeed, try try again! tomorrow is my day

I notice when I wake up earlier I need to stay up longer and if I sleep a little too long, I jsut stay up for an hour. Seems to work better that way.

Which one's better, do you think: sleep for 5 hours and stay up for 90 mins, or sleep for 6 hours and stay up for 60 mins? Or is there really no difference?

think there is a difference. I prefer waking up 5 hours and then staying up 90 minutes. Or sometimes even just sleeping 4 hours. Im still working on perecting all this timing so I can make a chart so Ill know what to do and when. It also depends on how you feel. YOu shouldnt be ready to pass out and you shouldnt be ready for the day.
