That's how my very first lucid ended. I realized I was dreaming, took a friend along flying with me, and thought, This is so cool! Anything I think of will happen! Oh, wow, I'd better not think of anything scary... *cue horror movie monster* |

i hate being lucid, because every time i think of a scary thought it turns into an image, i keep thinking to myself "no scary thoughts" but its too hard to avoid, does anybody elese here understand me? |

I agree with what shift said, when I was younger I had.. alot of nightmares because of movies, as stupid as it sounds, it carried out into my late teens, I mean to have a nightmare about a monster coming and eating you or w/e used to just scare me shitless |

Hmm, well serial killers and rapists do exist, so I guess that's one thing to keep in mind as that 1% of "this isn't a dream, you ARE about to die.". But I think I'm usually safe in that if it is something form a horror movie near my bed (more specifically, Zelda from Pet Sematary and the girl convulsing during the Exorcism of Emily Rose) that I'm probably in a dream. It still gives me a heart attack when I'm awake and think of them, but at the same time I'm almost exhilarated because it means I may be in a dream! |

Yeah same, but now if I see something scary, because I know I'm dreaming I'll simply go up to it and tell it to take a flying |

This situation could be worse. With sleep deprivation it is indirectly easier to become lucid. Also, when sleep deprived and in a state of lucidity, it is less likely that you will wake up, and, you may be unlikely to voluntarily wake up at will. |
