      Beyond The Senses

Does anyone else move beyond their senses in their dreams? It's a very hard concept to explain but if you experience it you will know what I mean. You eventually get to a point where you realize that in the dream world things like sight and sound are not needed and you can advance far beyond their rigid limitations. Not only this but you can also beging to experience something like a piece of art using your other senses, you can hear it, you can feel it, you can smell it, taste it. Eventually thought begins to change, you think in sounds or in colours (another hard to explain concept) or your thoughts become impossible to explain. You can also begin to stop using your senses, and just fully experience the dream in a way that can't really be described. Does anyone else feel hightened or diferent senses while dreaming?

I haven't experienced such use of senses in my dreams yet, but I did actually read somewhere that some people actually hear colors or feel tastes and such. It basically has to do with the development of the different areas in the brain handling the information received from the different senses. As with phantom pain, where you would still feel a lost limp or you would feel it when you touch another part of your body due to overlapping in the brain.

It should be really fun to explore new senses in a lucid dream though.. Something like a sixth sense! I wonder what that would be (other then the most obvious one, where you would 'see' beings that past away). Anyone has any experience with that?
