You're right on the button Bolognese. WILDs are very unlikely to work if you try it right when you go to sleep. This is because you must go through 4 stages of NREM (Non-REM) sleep before getting to the 5th stage, REM sleep. It is in REM sleep that most dreams occur.

Highly recommend doing the WILD method in combination with the WBTB (Wake-back-to-bed) method, which entails sleeping for 4-6 hours, waking up via alarm clock, and then doing the WILD. Much easier.
