Hello,

Last night I believe I experienced my first lucid dream. I fell asleep much later than 1:37 AM and woke up from my lucid dream at 1:54 AM -- a period of less than 17 minutes (actually I think I woke up less than five minutes later). My lucid dream lasted only a few seconds and it was -- I believe -- luck. It started as I randomly lapsed into consciousness and I was not dreaming. I just saw a grey-black color. I don't believe I ever woke up, as I decided to stay asleep despite the fact that I was conscious. I decided to keep my eyes closed. It just came to me when I was sleeping and not dreaming: "I'm sleeping!" I didn't do an RC because I wasn't in a dream yet, so I just had to continue sleeping until images developed. Later, I lapsed out and back into consciousness had a FA. I easily realized that I was dreaming due to the fact that the clock displayed nothing and a magazine was on a stand pointing at me -- one that had not arrived at my house yet and one that I only had read at the bookstore (FWIW, the latest issue of wired). It's worth noting that my left eye was jammed shut now. Stupidly, I decided to get up and go to another room to fall asleep to see if I would wake up in tat room or in my bedroom (in waking life I realize how soooooooo stupid this is.) While doing this I tried to force my left eye open, and while doing so, I opened my actual eye, thereby losing my lucidity and waking up. My questions are:

1. Was I really lucid? I know I was lucid earlier, but I'm not sure if I lost my lucidity before I woke up due to the stupid decisions I made.

2. What method did I use? Like I said, I became lucid before my dream started, but then when the dream did start it was a false awakening.

Thank you for all your contributions!
